italianmama41 4 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm feeling pretty darn good after having my VSG on 3/29, however I'm a little frustrated at how my meal plan is going. I'm only on full liquids (shakes, pudding, etc...) and am trying to follow a schedule. My problem is I can tolerate about 2-3 oz of whatever I'm drinking, feel full and stop. I'm hungry though in about an hour later. My question is -- is this normal? Once I'm on actual foods (pureed, soft, etc..) will I stay full longer? Any info is appreciated. TijuanaPlication 87 Posted April 4, 2011 Liquids slide right on through, so it should get easier once you move to mushies and eventually proper food, just hang in there.
Rev Me Up! 75 Posted April 4, 2011 Yeah, I didn't have a lasting full feeling until I had a little more substance in my diet. Are you taking Nexium or a PPI? Especially early out, the only "hunger" type sensation I would have was actually bubbling acid in my stomach. Make sure you take the acid controllers and that may get rid of the bubbly/grinding sensation. Good luck-- Lara
bilka 6 Posted April 4, 2011 I felt hungry all the time with liquids too, or just annoyed that I couldn't chew anything. Everything changed when I switched to mashed food, then I wasn't that hungry anymore and I was satisfied with the food I ate!
Lanette 124 Posted April 5, 2011 I was sleeved on 3/28 and am in the same stage as you. I have found the more Protein I can get in that liquid makes a big difference in how long I feel full. I've been making protein ice cream and drinking it at milk shake consistency. If you go to www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com she has a ton of recipes for the ice cream. Great thing is that it uses TWO scoops of Protein Powder for 8 oz of milk so you are getting a lot more bang for your buck. I'm also treating my full liquids like meals and not drinking with them. May or may not help, but my hope is that the thicker liquid (with my protein in it) will stick around in my tummy a little longer. Hope this helps!
