I wanted salad so bad, I started having it around 12 weeks but very little, I was usually to full to eat it. Most times now I mix chicken with it, I need my greens. But ask your doctor.

I don't remember the exact time. Make sure you feel comfortable enough to try it.

I tried it for the first time last weekend. I an 3 months post op... and it just didn't feel right.

My stomach gurgled funny.

I was so looking forward to it too!

I was allowed as soon as I went onto normal foods (about 4 weeks). Since I can only eat 1/2 cup max of food I usually just take a couple fork fulls after my Protein.< /p>

I wasn't allowed raw fruits/veggies/nuts until 3 months post-op. Especially high-cellulose, stringy veggies/fruits can be very difficult to digest. Some people have zero issues, but I really didn't have room for raw veggies/fruits when I was focused on Protein. I did eat a lot of steamed green Beans and broccoli.

I was dying for a salad and at 3 months I had one. About a cup, OMG i went to my nieces high school play about at hour after I ate it and well lets just say I had to leave my underware at the school. No salad for me for a LOOOONNNGGGG time.

I'm almost 3 months, and I tried salad a few weeks ago. I bought my favorite salad at work, they make up for you in the cafeteria. I used to get that with a soft pretzel and some sort of dessert. Well, this time I only got the salad, and it was a total waste of money, as I could only eat a few bites before I was totally, completely, disgustingly full!!! Since then I buy the smallest pre-made salad (either chicken Caesar or chef - since they have protein). But I take a huge handful of lettuce and throw it in the trash, leaving only about a 1/4 cup of lettuce (maybe less), and eat it with the Protein and low fat or fat free dressing. And I'm am stuffed!!! Unlike previous responses, I had no 'bathroom' issues, so I suppose that depends on your own body. Good luck!

Check with your surgeon as each has different guidelines. I was told 6 months for raw vegtables and acidic fruit. I can eat salad but it does not sit well just yet. Besides, it has little nutritional value (unless spinach salad) so I try to get protien in first. After years of chewing lettuce until I thought I was a rabbit, sort of happy not to fill my plate with salad while others enjoy a juicy steak, fish, chicken dish. Gotta love your sleeve!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
