Hormones--help!!!

Recommended Posts

So, I've felt mostly pretty OK in the last couple of months since being sleeved, but I had noticed slightly more intense premenstrual symptoms. But, recently, I feel like my hormones are really out of control. I feel very emotional and irritable, and yesterday I snapped at my boss! :( Seriously, if this keeps up I'll be out of a job! Yipes! Anyone have any suggestions for getting the hormone monsters under control? Any suggestions would be appreciated....

Meditation, and removing myself from the situation was the only thing that has helped for me. Plus, I really have to take the time to breathe. I'm pretty sure my son has wanted to disown me, and my husband has thought of shutting me in the attic a few 100 times over the last year and a half because of my mood swings, but they do get better.

Ha, that's exactly how I think the people around me feel! If this were a different era, we'd be locked in the attic for sure! :D Thanks for the suggestion on meditation, Tiff! I've been thinking about trying it, and now you've really got me thinking it might help! I'll give it a shot.

If you figure it out, let me know! I go from zero to bitch if someone so much as glances at me funny. Guess in the future it will be easy to spot sleevers... we'll be the ones out of jobs :)

Oh no! You too? Sorry to hear it! I tell ya, I am starting meditation before I hurt someone! Hoping this passes when my weight stabilizes! Still, that's probably a year away....

For those of you that are still producing estrogen, the female body produces estrogren amounts based on your weight - the more you weigh the more estrogen the body produces. But as you lose weight, the body doesn't adjust the levels on a nice steady decrease. Mine would hold my estrogen level the same, then "notice" I had lost weight and drop my level suddenly to "catch up" to my lower weight. I could have hired myself out as a hit-woman! I never figured out how to compensate except for taking Prozac. Now that I have had a hysterectomy, I can control it through my HRT dosage. Good Luck, ladies.

Oh no, tell me it ain't so! I have such problems with PMS now as it is, I was hoping it would get better after the sleeve! Is it just in the losing phase? Oh crap, how am I going to manage if my mood swings get any worse?unsure.gif

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
