Yes, ma'am! It is quite normal.Your tummy has A LOT of healing to do. Fourth day out was not a good day for me either. I am now 16 days out and life is soooo much better. Hang in there! It can be REALLY tough the first 2 weeks. It will gradually get better, I promise. Just try to keep sipping away. And remember, you don't have to worry about getting in any Proteins until you're in your 2nd week. Water is the most IMPORTANT thing right now. :)

Well that's reassuring...i have been trying to get my Protein in...and coming close to my 60 grams a day. I will now try to push the Water as i have been falling short on that. I am getting my Vitamins and my tums in and that enzyme pill and pepid twice a day. Does anyone get frusterated not being able to eat much? i find myself kind of angry when i'm eating. i guess it just takes time to connect the brain and stomach again. i'm going to try a walk around the block today and work my way up from there. I'm trying to get one 8 once glass of milk with one scoop of Protein powder in so far. I can already tell i'm going to get sick of that really fast! Thanks for all your support it's good to talk with other going through the same thing...others around here don't really understand the change and how hard it is.

one final question...today i'm finally back to my weight on the day of the surgery..i gained like 13 pounds from Fluid...good gracious!!...did all of you experiance that as well?

Remember, your Protein drinks count as part of your Fluid intake. At least that's what my doc said. Not 64ozs Water and 3- 8oz (20gms ea) Protein shakes. You are doing great for day four, sister! And walking helps SO much.

Yes, I gained like 5 lbs from surgery. Was 241 right before they rolled me in. When I cam home the next day I was 246. I am 15 days post-op and am at 227. If I keep losing like this, I'm going to look like a flying squirrel...

really?? hey that's great to know too...i didn't realize that the Protein Shakes counted toward the Water goal....that makes life a million times easier..!!! Is that what others have experienced too?? I'm going to try to stay of the oxicodone today too...it's makes me so loopy and almost sick now...i think i'd rather take the pain.

Yes, the pain med helped with the pain but made me feel like crap. I did start feeling better after I was off it. Be careful though, your only 4 days out. Maybe take half a dose first and see if that helps.

I know there are some that have posted stating the same on the Fluid intake, but not sure how many.

try pushing you Water in first! I waited a week and got to the point where I was getting all my water in first before I started working on Protein. Don't get me wrong I progressed to 64 ounces of water in 7 days. So don't be so hard on yourself. You body can be without protein I think for as long as a month without it harming your body. When you get to the point your taking in 64 ounces of water make your Protein Shakes with water and count the water as part of your water intake as well as your protein. So don't be so hard on yourself you really need to stay hydrated right now!! But cant weight is absolutly right it will hurt to take water but every day it will get a little better and your can drink a little more.

NotFatJustExtraFluffy, you are doing fabulously on your weight loss. Congrats!! :D

I couldn't take the protein with straight water...it was just too nasty! But my doc said if I am using 1% milk that I could definitely count it in my Fluid intake. I was so glad because I was having a hard time getting all the water plus the shakes.< /span>

I too was sleeved on the 29th, and am feeling the same pain with every sip. I think I'm trying to drink too fast? or too big of a sip? I notice that when I slow it down, it doesn't seem to hurt as bad.

Also, try taking smaller sips. It is tedious but makes things go down so much easier. Same can be said when you progress to foods, if it hurts, take even smaller bites.

check out newwhey.com or go to GNC and they sell New whey shots, they are fruit flavored Protein shots that are almost 4oz, i started mixing a large amount with my crystal light and getting in Protein is very easy now! i <3 them!!! even the website states "liquid gold for wls patients" and its so true ^_^

i was thinking i should wait till the end of the day for my Protein shake and really push the Water all day. I use skim with the protein...does that count toward the liquid intake?

"others around here don't really understand the change and how hard it is."

I can't imagine anyone not remembering the post op diet and the first

few weeks after surgery.

There are a lot of things you can drink besides Water. Some people say Water seems to hurt more than crystal lite sf gatoraide, sf poweraide, etc.

I had to drink everything warm or at room temperature. Cold things bothered and still do bother my stomach.

Every day should get easier. You may want to check out the food thread for places to order different samples of Protein drinks, and the huge list of

Protein Drink recipes to jazz them up.

Your shakes, popsicles, Jello and broth ALL count toward your liquid intake. Remember that they are all made of Water so it counts. I'd work on your Protein during the day too you need the nutrients to keep you going.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
