Everyones taste buds are different... I hated sweet right after surgery... but found Chike banana was good made with ff milk or even water... you can get samples too...

4everfit makes a great fruity mango flavor you make with Water, I drink it like juice in the AM.

I don't use bars, kinda high calorie for the Protein, and a little pricy for my budget.

Robin I use wheybolic isolate extreme 60 from GNC and I love the taste. I get the choclate and it is a smooth Protein not grainy like the whey protein..good luck and as feed says it is your taste and everyone is different.

I used eas carb advantedge ready to drink after surgery. I didn't like any powder mixes as drinks although I used the eas powder version to mix with sf pudding. Labrada lean body Rtd is my favorite but it is really expensive per bottle. But like feedyoureye said everyone has different favorites. You can get some free samples online. I think there is a thread on that somewhere.

I used Isopure PLUS after surgery. It is a fruit flavored Protein, very lightly flavored compared to other brands. Each 8 oz bottle has 15 grams of protein. It comes in a punch flavor and a grape frost flavor. I had tried it at my dietician's and liked it. I couldn't find it easily in a store (I live in the sticks of east Texas), so I ordered a supply online through Amazon. It is the cheapest place to get it.

I also liked the Myopex light vanilla flavor - purchased at Walmart. Again, not super sweet. It has 20 grams of protein in 11 oz.

I've been trying to figure that out too. Went to the Vitamin Shoppe & GNC and bought one each of a bunch of things.

In the ready to drink, I really like the O Yeah brand drinks chocolate and banana. I have some stashed for right after surgery, as I've read that some (not all) folks become lactose intolerant and it's lactose free. I like the EAS AdvantEdge you can get those at Walmart - the dark chocolate is my favorite. There's also EAS Myoplex light. Watch out for the regular EAS, though - lots of calories.

I've tried all the fruit flavored ones (Nectars & Isopure) and didn't like any of them, but other folks love them. Go figure.

In the powders I've liked the Optimum Nutrition 100% whey and (like others here) the Wheybolic chocolate from GNC. Powders are cheaper but more work.

I just posted this on another section here... but I loved the Atkins chocolate but it had too much fat/calories so I had to stop taking it.. it was probably the best one I had .. I went to GNC and bought Jay Robb Egg White and that wasn't a good taste for me nor were his other flavors... I then switched to Unjury in Classic Chocolate and I'd add a drop of Banana or Cinnamon extract to give it a little twist when I was burnt out on the taste..

I make mine with a handheld mixer for drinks - 8oz of Skim Milk / Crushed Ice and the powder and I blend it till it's like a Malted Milk shake ... when I'm at the office or in the car, I stop at a conv. store and get a small skim milk and I have a "Blender Bottle" that I swear by.. it makes it a different consistency that helps get it down smoother.. :)

I now have to go to the clear liquid Proteins after surgery I'm still trying to figure out what the heck those are! LOL

The best ones I have tried are the 4ever-fit fruit flavors... better than nectar in my opinion.

I am using the Isopure powder and it is so sweet it kind of makes me sick. I thought about the fruit punch drink kind though. Thanks for the help.

I can't hardly stand any of the Protein Drinks i've tried so far. But I am eating the Pure Protein Bar in chocolate Peanut Butter. They grow on you. Lol. First time I tasted I wasn't impressed but now i look forward to it. I have 1 for Breakfast everyday. I got it in Walmart. They sell a lot individually so you can try without having to buy a whole box. They are 20g of Protein.< /p>

With my doctor shocking me by telling me to start my liquid diet now in case my insurance suddenly approves me I realized I did not have enough Protein here. My nutritionist told me that the ready to drink Protein drinks at costco are almost universally liked, so I got 24 chocolate and 24 vanilla today so that I can drink three a day .

The are called Premier Protein and they have 30 grams of protein in an 11 Fluid ounce drink and only 3 grams of carbs.

My doctors rule of thumb is to never select a Protein Drink with less than double digits of protein and with never more than single digits of crabs so this one has great numbers.

Premier just changed their formula recently and the new formula makes me very sick to my stomach. The old formula was fantastic and I loved it with a tiny bit of Peanut Butter and a bit of banana, but the new formula is awful.

I recently bought the Special K Protein drinks which are pretty good, however, they have a lot of calories and carbs in them. They are fine for me now, but after surgery I will need something with higher protein content.

Go to the food section of this board and you 'll find places to order samples. I think samples are the way to go so you don't get stuck with anything you don't like.

There is also a complete list that someone did and I copied that lists his opinion of the very best to the bad Protein drinks.

If you like Isopure, it's the way to go for the clear stage.

My nutritionist recommends Boost Glucose control, Carnation Breakfast essentials, glucerna hi Protein or ensure Hi Protein.

I went with the Boost GC and honestly I LOVE the flavor. I also ordered samples of the Jay Robb whey protein which are ok...and i have GNC Pro Performance in Cookies and Cream which i am not keen on.

the only issue is the boost only has 16g or protein. But it is 190 cal for an 11oz container and low sugar

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
