I saw a product on Amazon with really good reviews called PB2 - Powered Peanut Butter. I haven't tried it yet but it is supposed to be almost as good with 85% less calories and fat. I found a store locally that sells it so I am going to try to get by there this weekend. This would be great to add to protien shakes instead of the real thing.

I love it too, I just got some almond butter, and that is yummy. My take is, sometimes I can "afford" it, and sometimes I can't. When I choose to eat it, I try and measure it out (eyeballs are almost always wrong) and log the calories. It is a big chunk of calories for the Protein content, but I do love it and try to fit it in sometimes. Nut oils are not to bad to get into the diet, but raw nuts are better yet... walnuts are the most beneficial for antioxidants.

MY local grocery store carries there own PB made in right in the store, it consist of ground peanuts, thats it, nothing esle, no sugar, no salt, no nothing, and it taste great. I know its still high in calories, but I dont feel as bad when I do grab a teaspoon full every couple days. I also have found a PB/ chocolate Protein Powder that really helps.

That looks good! I am going to order some. Nice to see they pride themselves on having no artificial sweeteners. Not everyone likes that taste and you can hardly find a product like this that you can add to smoothies that doesn't have it.

I have a friend who eats the PB2. She has not had WLS,but is on this other diet thing. She will mix it with fat free cool whip and fat free SF chocolate Syrup. She says it taste just like a reeces Peanut Butter cup and freezes it for an ice-cream treat.

I just found something called "peanut flour" . It is no sugar or salt and mostly is sold with most of the fat removed. It also comes in dark and light roast. You can bake with it or add it to smothies and such. The darker roast is supposed to have a stronger flavor. I ordered mine from netrition.com and it has 16 gms Protein per 1/4 cup! It is also gluten free.

shipping is a flat $4.99, so I ordered three pounds to keep the cost down.

I eat Peanut Butter all the time. ALL THE TIME. A lot of times when I'm crunched for time 2 TBS of PB is my go to Breakfast. It's real food, fast, delicious and has a nice amount of Protein. I don't limit fat or protein...just carbs. Now, I don't eat a meal and then 30 minutes later go for the PB for dessert. It IS the meal. Works for me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
