My surgery was March 23rd.

Is it safe to spend 8 hours traveling in a car? My husband had

a family member pass away and they are about 4 hours away.

Another thing I worry about is taking all my Protein Drinks with me. I am

still on liquids.< /span>:(

Somebody will have the answer.

As long as someone else does the majority of the driving AND you stop every hour or so to walk (to help prevent blood clots), I would think it would be okay. You're more than a week out now, so you should be past the worst of the post-op ick. Do take it easy and pace yourself.

Maddie: You should be fine, I went to Mexico for my surgery and flew home 3 days later. Then had a 2hr shuttle ride. The only thing I really noticed was some pain if the road got bumpy. Just take it easy, because you will be tired. I would suggest powdered Protein drinks so you do not have to haul bottles, just a shaker cup. I am sorry for your loss and hope that everything goes well for you. Jean

I concur with the others. You should be ok as long as you stop to walk every hour. So sorry for your loss! :(

As for the Protein shakes...I have found that if I'm out and about and need a Protein Drink, I stop at a good convenient store and grab a banana Cream "Muscle Milk." It's like 14ozs, 220 calories, 5-10gms Fat, 10-15 Carbs, and 25gms Protein. Very yummy too!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
