Bread? Will it always be toasted?

Recommended Posts

My nutritionist told me that any bread should be toasted. Of course I know that I will always be watching my carbs so bread will not be a large part of my diet. I am simply thinking of times when I am away from home

and choices may be more limited. Anywhoo, those who are well past the three month mark I would love to hear how you handle bread.

I'm only five weeks post-op, but I can eat bread that isn't toasted -- I just eat very little of it, take small bites, and chew it to death. Toast is easier definitely.

I am 4 months out and I tried a bite of bread on a sandwich and it did not feel good in my stomach at all. I could eat nothing after that bite.

Yes, regular bread may ball up and sit like a lump in the stomach. I avoid it like the plague and even toast. I eat little melba toast rounds now and then to satisfy my hunger for bread.

I was told to stay away from any breads that were not TOASTED well for the very same reason mentioned above. I'm gonna miss it as I LOVE my bread. But I already came to terms with staying away from bread, rice, Pasta, etc...because it's supposed to be hard on our sleeve to digest. Not to mention it doesn't fit in well with our eating plan. Just saying...:)

I've never been much a bread person, but I'm able to eat sammiches slowly (about 4 months out here). It takes me about 30-60 minutes to finish half a sammich, then I'll save the other half for another day. There are definitely easier things to get down but sometimes I just crave something with bread.

bread works fine for me. I do get fuller quicker, but I have no issues with my stomach digesting it. I was never a huge sandwich person to begin with, but again, I can eat it with no problem.

I'm two months out and I've eaten untoasted bread several times. No problems whatsoever. Everyone is different. I do get uncomfortable with cottage cheese and with hummus but not with bread.... weird.

I eat bread without problems but not often because of carbs and bread is just too filling. I do like the sandwich thins and the bagel thins they have come out with .

Again, it's more like a treat and not something I have very

often. Every once in awhile, I crave a ham sandwich. 1/2 of one of those

sandwich thins is perfect.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
