It's okay...you will be fine. Every surgeon is different so did your surgeon give you a preop diet plan? How long are you on pre-op diet for?

I was on liquid protien for 2 weeks - what a nightmare, but I did it since I wanted a sleeve more than I wanted to eat whatever I wanted. Recommend calling surgeons office to get a plan or search through the pre-op diet section here or go to http://www.cornellwe...gastrectomy.pdf Diet is for sleevers, not just any WLS patient. Good luck you are going to love your sleeve.

I had went to Walmart because I was on a tight budget and bought the 2 lb(32oz) container of Body Fortress whey Protein for the shakes and got Cookies and Creme, chocolate, and vanilla. I loved the vanilla and cookies and creme. The chocolate was ok but then again I am not the biggest on Chocolate. I paid right under $15 for each container which is a great deal. I had bought some strawberry from Muscle Max and didn't care for it so my hubby drinked it. But its powder and you mix it with Water or skim milk. I reccommend using water and saving the calories for food. I also bought and still buy sugar free jellos and puddings but if you get them from Walmart they have a brand next to the yogurt section called Winkies and the jellos from this brand are only $2.64 for a box of 24 jellos. Good luck :)

I can't really help too much on which Proteins as I was on Optifast for a week pre op, but if you do a search you'll find a lot of details come up under the Pre and Post op diet section.

You'll be fine... just keep in your head this is the last 'diet' you'll ever have to do.... stick to it to maximise your weightloss before surgery and ensure your Dr is happy with everything, and before you know it you'll be posting from the losers bench.

Good luck

I am on day 3 of 14 of the pre-op diet. The last two days must be Clear Liquids only.

I am using Bariatric Advantage vanilla w/ skim and some fruit in it in my morning shake, then I have a Syntrax Nectar w/ Water around lunch with a salad or steamed vegetables. Then in the evening I have been having Unjury chocolate splendor w/skim and steamed veggies or a salad and a chicken breast only if necessary. I also can have 2 control bars if needed which I think you can only get at the doctor's office. I am hovering around 1000 calories a day with that combination. Today is the first day I didn't have the 2 control bars, I had a half of one this morning and half in the afternoon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
