I am just now getting started with BMI. Met with Dr. D FEB. 21' date='2013.

Mar. 14, 2013 1st visit with dietician.

Could anyone tell me how many visits to dietician they require?

How many WLS support groups required?

I am on Medicare and they require full 3 months. Got kinda confused about insurance coverage, but visit was hectic with seeing 2 others and dr. I know a lot will be clarified when I go see Jodi. Did y'all get A lot from your appts. With her?

I am totally committed to do whatever I need to do .... Thanks to anyone who answers my questions?

I didn't so it with them. But I got sleeved on 2/19 with Dr. Gonzalez at the the Texas Center for surgical weight loss. It's at NE Baptist but my actual surgery was at Foundations hospital off of Huebner. I had 3 months of medically supervised weightloss as required by my insurance BCBS. The NUT just told me a few things to do such as drink more Water and add Protein drinks. But it wasn't anything major. I met with my NUT on the same day as my doctor. I did a visit every month. Hope this helps.

My understanding is that the number of nutrition visits is often dictated by the insurance companies. Mine is Humana PPO and they are requiring 6 visits. The doctors and staff at BMI of Texas have been fantastic with me. I'm looking at a December date if everything goes well. Good luck!

I am getting sleeved by Dr. Seger on Dec. 18, 2013. I am more than nervous! I wish it would hurry up and be here and over with...so I can stop feeling anxious! I am a self pay so I saw the NUT one time and nothing very major...didn't get into much details about stuff. BUT if I have questions about anything I email her and she replies quickly. So the experience there is good so far. I hope the surgery goes well too!

That's great KeRrAZeE!! I'm very happy with the results thus far. The office has been very accommodating whenever I have had questions. I hope your surgery goes well. Mine is going to be at Methodist S&T. Dr. Seger seems to be a great doctor along with his partner. So I would be happy with either of them. Good luck!!

Just got sleeved by Dr Duperier on Jan 28 and he was great. He discussed the procedure afterwards. Mine operation was a little more difficult he said because my stomach was higher in my abdominal cavity. This caused a few geometry problems getting to the stomach with the tools. That's why you want someone with a lot of experience and not someone who is doing his training on you.

Dr. D is the very good.

The staff at Methodist Specialty and Transplant was great also. Dr SHankar Sanka was the MD calling the shots on meds for my bloood presssure, blood sugar, etc. He was great also. Very down-to-earth, not condescending, just a great guy!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
