Pureed Borrito filling?

Recommended Posts

I have been going nuts trying to find more stuff to puree, today while on my way home from the store I was driving past my favorite Mexican restaurant. As I was driving by I couldnt help but think, hmmm Their signature burrito called the "Homewrecker" is so good, and of course you pick all your favorite toppings, mmm so good. My thought process went like this, Chicken= Protien, Black beens= Protein, fresh made paco digio cant be bad for me, Fresh chopped Jalapenos arent bad for me, guacamole although not that great for me, isnt all that bad.... I turned the car around went back and got the HUMONGOUS "homewrecker" with chicken, paco digio, black Beans, guacamole, Jalapenos, and had it wrapped up to go, brought it home, pulled the filling out of the tortilla, and pureed it, ohhh so tasty compared to all the other pureed crap I have been choking down for the last couple weeks. I did have to ad a little extra salsa to thin it out so the magic bullet would puree it.

Now I sit here wondering, how bad was this for me? What should I do with all the leftover, save it and eat it over a few days? Or is it so bad for me that I should toss it away so as to not be tempted to eat the rest? There is so much of this left over it has to be at least another 4 to 5 meals, if not more. I will say this is fullest I have felt since the surgery, although I only ate 3 ounces, I feel mush more full that I have been with other purees.

Try freezing it in meal-size portions and then just microwave it when you desperately want a fix

Try CalorieKing.com they have most all restaraunts listed on there and you can find out how much calories and protien. I don't think a Homewrecker is so bad as long as you don't have the tortilla and the queso.

Honestly, I never worried about fat content in my losing stage. Not that I was shoveling in loads of fat, but I didn't count fat grams.

The chicken is fab, the Beans are full of Fiber and Protein, the avocado (in my opinion) is the best option because of the high potassium and high healthy fats. Personally, I think it's a great option. I mushed all kinds of foods, and think if it satisfied you, and your taste then eat the measured portions for the next couple of days. Freeze the rest for to be eaten in a month's time. I not a fan of eating leftovers for more than 2 consecutive days. Foods lose their luster far too fast in my opinion if I eat them too often so I have to take a break or I'll get burned out on a fave.

I will say that was the tastiest meal I have had since going on the liquid diet on the 2/23/11, and after thinking about it, it really isn't that bad of a choice. All the ingredients were healthy, and I only ate 2 to 3 ounces of it, it was very satisfying.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
