Thankyou for taking the time to check this out.

I have organised with a leading local business in the health industry an infomation night on exercise and general health issues with a lap band.

The Business i have been working with is a state of the art sports clinic that offer physio, massage, pilates, personal training, gym, doctors all at competitive prices and walking groups for free.

With my help we have been organising group work outs for lap band people only.In your private work out you would have the gym and a personal trainer at your disposal. You can put together your own group, bring along family and friends or choose to only work out with other lap banded people. Another service they are starting is free walking groups at large shopping centers where you can stay out of the weather and walk in a safe, supervised and friendly environment. Or they can tailor an exercise program for you to take back to your own gym or to use at home.

They deal with all shapes and sizes so dont feel like you cant be involved.

This clinic has played an instrumental part in my weight loss of 37 kgs in 9 months.

If you are interested and would like to know more i can email you a fact sheet.

I am very commited to helping other people with the lap band in achieving there goals.

Please send a message on here or email me at Spaldo2@hotmail.com

If you would like to find out more about this.

Cheers

Andy

Hey Andy, saw your message on Bandsters too - good luck with this great initiative. I'd have emailed but for the fact that I have a fwife of one of Doug's colleagues that I'm working with, its kind of a personal relationship as well as a professional one that I wouldnt be able to exit gracefully if you know what I mean. She's just done me a home strength training program and I'm working on my treadmill.

Is the whole thing local to Frankston? Or can they work with you in other gyms throughout Melbourne?

You could do your own work out at their gym with other bandsters with the supervision of a personal trainer. You could just use the trainer for advice on correct technique with the program you have alerady had set out for you. Also you do not have to commit to a contract either so you can pay as you go.It is just such a positive place to work out and i think the chance to have a gym all to yourself and other bandsters to talk to would be wonderful. The clinic is in Frankston. We have one woman coming all the way from geelong to check it out and go home with some fresh lap band specific ideas for exercise.

There is no pressure at all so if you want to just come along the info night you can find out eactly what they may have to offer.

I think you'll have a bit of a problem with location Andy. Frankston is a LONG way out of Melbourne.

There's loads of bandsters about the place but I think you'd have a higher strike rate if the clinic was mobile and held in different locations at different times.

I know what you mean. But you have to start somewhere and thats where the clinic is. Once we gain more experience we will look at visiting support groups or group sessions in the park but no gym is going to let another business come in and train people at their gym.

We have one person coming from geelong for the info night to get some ideas and she can get a program worked out for her that she can take back home. Most gyms will let you work any program and you can pay for a session with a trainer that will give you advice on correct posture and technique.

It will take some work getting of the ground but as i said its a start.

Good to get feed back of any kind though.

Wow - in the park - like Step into Life? That's a fantastic idea. I've done that before and it was great fun. There'd be no stopping you if you got that going - something specifically for obese and/or older people. I think you're right, there's a niche there, you just have to work out how to fill it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
