9 days Post-Op and I'm feeling pretty good! Went to Whole Foods yesterday and eyed all the healthy things I'm going to eat in 12 days (mushie/soft stage). Yea!! I've never been so happy about mushie/soft food in my life! :)

It's getting easier to prepare dinner for my family and not have "Food Envy." This surgery is doing more than making me healthy, It's also forcing better food and eating habits for my family.

I spent time this morning going through my pantry and getting rid of all the "Fatty-fat" foods. It feels so good to be focused on the goal at hand and also changing the life of other too (my family).

Anyway, I have lost a total of 18 lbs in a little over 3 weeks (2 wk pre-op diet -6 lbs and 9 days fluids -12 lbs). Yea sleeve!! Looking forward to the scale going lower and lower. However, I'm not looking forward to looking like a "Flying Squirrel!" :P

Have a wonderful healthy day, guys!! :D

Haha! Flying Squirrel. Now THAT's funny! I'm so glad you mentioned making better food choices for your family. I have not yet had the surgery, but I'm hoping it will greatly effect the way I feed my kids and husband. Right now, they eat what I eat and if I crave something and eat it, they do too. Ugh.

Congrats on your weight loss!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
