The hormonal thing

Recommended Posts

I know I've read somewhere on here about hormones being stored in fat and that's why we're getting hormonal when we start losing a lot etc. Can someone re-explain it to me in more detail? I can't find the post.

Also, when did yall start feeling like this? I'm 2 months out now and it's hitting me HARD in the past week at least. It may have started at my last period but then again I always cry watching Moulin Rouge so that's not a very good indicator. Yesterday I was bawling watching Ya Ya. I had to fight back the tears during a few commercials this week too. Not to mention, well, my husband isn't complaining about the other and I can't help but think it's not 100% of the fact that I'm almost 50 lbs down, my belly is way smaller, and I'm feeling better in my own skin (it's certainly helping matters though). How long does it last and does it go in phases?

Estrogen is stored in fat cells. When we lose weight rapidly, all the estrogen is released into our bodies causing major hormonal fluxes. It can throw off your period, it can intensify PMS, cause insane food cravings.

For me, it all came in ebbs and waves. I would be happy as a lark then 10 minutes later I was ready to throat punch strangers for breathing in my direction and taking up MY oxygen LOL.

My PMS is worse now than it ever was when I was fat. I would get moody, sad, cranky, carby foods needed to be within arm's reach, and heaven forbid my husband want to have sex. My worse mood swing and craving week is actually the week I ovulated, then it would mellow out for a week then BAM my period would hit and I would be a little moody/short-tempered the day before I started. I was only able to recognize this pattern because we were TTC, I was charting, temping, and all the other crap we had to do to get pregnant.

I can say during my rapid weight loss stage (the first 6 months) were emotional ups and downs.

Tiffy, you crack me up! Thank God we have you to put things into perspective. It helps me so much to read that I'm not the only one with these crazy side effects happening now and in the future!smile.gif

I have noticed hormone changes too. Im about 5 weeks out and was fine at first but this last week I have been on edge like no other. Ugh very frustrating.

Ive noticed a huge change in my hair too, my hair used to get super oily, I had to wash it daily and now my hair is not oily at all. Its been 2 days since I washed it and its still fine. So crazy what this surgery does to us.
