1200 Calorie Diet- OMG! TORTURE!

Recommended Posts

So,

Today is my 4th day of the "all liquid diet"- It's been pretty bad. Like I've actually dreamed about eating bacon! BACON of all things lol. My boyfriend is being supportive and he is following the diet with me so that I won't feel alone and hungry by myself and it's great to share that with him cause I think I would go insane. Today is going ok, but I just really want a cheeseburger. I saw my dietician yesterday and she thinks I'm going to do great, but it's so hard because my sister leaves hot pockets and Chipotle and Subway everywhere. I even found myself about to take a bite out of her Hot Pocket and she opened her door and I dropped it on the floor- it was a sign lol! This is by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but I know it's preparing me for something even greater and so I'm venting my frustrations. 12 more days until surgery.... wow....

Well,

I hope you guys have a wonderful day! Go Team Sleeve!

Candace

I have been doing the pre-op 1200 cal diet since I signed up to be sleeved back in October. The first few weeks were the worst! I thought i would starve to death! It is low fat, low carb, high Protein and I was beside myself. So many times I wanted to go get a cheesburger or some pizza.

Stick with it cuz it does get easier. After about day 12, I was getting into a grove and not so many cravings were upon me. I still get hungry for things, but not NEARLY like i use to. AND, i have lost 50lbs. PRE OP!! that is pretty amazing!

Keep with it. It will all be worth it!

Best of luck!

Kelly

Yall will do fine.. If it was soo easy to do what everyone here has done than everyone would be lining up for a part of it.. It is extremely hard and takes a lot of self control. You just have to want it more than you are suffering right now.. Once you get past the carb withdrawls you will be at a better place to help you get through it the rest of the way..good luck ladies and keep you heads up...

i have had the plication done in January but i had to be on a low carb/high Protein preop before hand..I thought i was going to die..the carb monster was rearing its ugly head at me constantly and i constatly had to ignore it...believe it or not the longer you go with out the junky carbs the easier it gets and pretty soon you don't want any of that junk stuff.and better yet when you start losing the weight and the inches its way easy to stop eating junk and replace it with the good stuff.

HANG IN THERE LADIES!!! It is sooo difficult to do this without the help of the sleeve. I struggled a great deal too... it was super hard for me!!! I white knuckled it for 2 weeks... but I have to tell you I'm so glad that I did it. I had a good surgery that only lasted about 90 minutes. Not bad for the Dr. needing to remove a Lap Band AND do a sleeve too...

Bonus: I also lost 9 lbs pre surgery too.

Good luck!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
