is your pouch to big???

Does anyone feel like their pouch is not small, tight enough???? I do and actually feel like asking the DR to redo it. 9 months out only have lost 65 pounds and lost all that in the first 4 months have lost since then Im frustrated and depressed I work my ass off and watch what I eat WHAT is going on

have you discussed this with your surgeon? what size did he use? i made darn sure i asked all these questions before the surgery and that we both came to a mutual agreement. Mine was 32F with an oversew making it roughly 28F

My stomach is NOT too big, but is double to triple the size it was at 2-3 months out. I can't eat a lot at once of Protein food, mushies I still can't eat huge portions, junk food like crackers, pretzels, chips, those all go right on down without restriction. I have learned to cheat the sleeve and it's not difficult. I have to follow the rules to the T if I want to keep the same small portions. Literally, two bites of mashed potatoes or any other carby slider type for me with a couple bites of meat, and I can easily fit more food in. So, if I follow the rules, eat Protein first ONLY, I can only fit so much in. I still keep my white carbs in check, but I do eat them. I've actually been eating the same amounts for over a year now, and have found that there are different things that change my restriction. When you say you are watching what you eat, why do you think your stomach is too big? Can you eat more now than you could at 2 months out because that's very normal, and it's what happens with VSG. Are you tracking your intake? Are you getting in enough protein and Clear liquids? Are you working out? Have you had labs done recently? Do you have any metabolic symptoms or disease (PCOS, thyroid) that could be impeding your losing weight? Those are all things that have to be taken into consideration before thinking your sleeve is too big.

Revising sleeves is super tricky, and not recommended. Most opt to go to the full DS to lose the rest of their weight if they are unable to get to goal with VSG alone.

Excellent points Tiffy...

and I can say for myself I definitely can fit more in my stomach now than I could at 2 months out. Especially since I've been taking my antibiotics (H Pylori) which I believe is bringing down a lot of swelling I had in there.

I have to keep an eye on my portions, 3 oz of meat, a nice portion of green veggies and a couple bites of healthier carbs and I'm done. No sense in continuing to eat if I know that's a normal portion and I'm no longer physically hungry.

Now, head hunger, that's a beast of a different color!!! :lol:

My Doc told me that sleeve size is only a small part of losing weight. I got a loose 36f with oversewing and he said that IS on the small side. I would look into all the other suggestions that Tiff gave before trying for a tighter sleeve.

I'm nearly 8 months out and have lost only a couple of pounds en the last 2 months. I can eat much more now than 2 months ago, which upsets me in a way but for the last couple of days I've been having more salads and fruit with greek yoghurt, and other healthy carbs and i feel in control again and very positive about losing the pounds left to get to goal.

How far away from goal are you? What are you eating on any given day? I would try other things (as Tiffy suggested ) before even considering any other procedure this early out.

Just a tiny heads up, the term "pouch" usually refers to the shape of the stomach formed by RNY surgery, "Sleeve" is used for the shape of the stomach formed by VSG. Good luck with working with your sleeve! Im thinking a new aproach to eating might just work for you!

I had my first appt with Dr. Yadeger 2 weeks ago and he confirmed he uses the 32 fr. with Covidien/duet to seal the cut.

Have you thought about doing the pouch test diet?

I'm a year out, and I've lost 75 pounds. I had a long stall where my weight fluctuated but would not go below 183.6. It was miserable, and I tried a few tricks to get out of it without a heck of a lot of success.

I just broke my stall and got to 180.2 within the last week. I've lost 5 pounds this week when I hadn't lost 5 pounds in 5 months.

I don't think my sleeve is too big, but I do know that I need to stick to eating Protein first and getting all of my Water in. When I don't do that, things don't come off even if my calories are low and exercise is high.

I also think that there is more than just 3500 calories equals a pound when it comes to weight loss. Our bodies need to adjust and figure out to let pounds go. We don't understand everything, but if you keep on track, the weight loss will happen eventually.

I am not trying to win any races with my weight loss. I know that it gets harder the closer I get to goal. I'm 25 pounds from where I want to be, and I have to work to get there.

To help me, I started blogging my weight every Friday. Unlike my ticker, I reported gains and losses. It has helped me stay accountable, and I am losing weight. It has also made me stay more aware of what my body is doing through this whole weight-loss process.

I see a lot of these post are older ones. I'm not sure if you guys are still on here and still partaking in these chats. It will be three months ago on June 19th that I have had the surgery. Some days I seem to get filled up quick when I eat, other's its like I never had the surgery. I don't want to stretch my stomach again. I do notice when it's more Protein i do get full quicker. My eyes and brain think big still, but my stomach doesn't. I don't want to get back into my old habits and not succeed. My age if a factor also, and when I look in the mirror and I see the loose skin under my neck it makes me not want to lose more. I do chin excercises, but it doesn't seem to help. I wish I had done this 5 years ago, maybe it wouldn't be so hard on my body like it is now. I know I will never be like I was in my 20's, but I don't want to look 80 years older then I am.....Why oh why did God ever make people to get bigger???

The Protein first is what really helps me stay within my eating limits. And I was shocked at how much weight lifting can help tighten some loose skin areas (specifically my batwings). I found I had improvement within 3 weeks just lifting weights a few times a week.

I agree here with this poster. It is your stomach just smaller.

FYI there is only a millimeter difference in the size of sleeves. It would not make a huge difference in the amount you can eat. Be careful of what you are eating, how much, and use an on line tracker for this. You may be surprised how much food you are actually consuming

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
