Need some input about plateau

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved last June and have since lost over 80 pounds. I still have 20-50 left to go (depending on how I look and feel when I get there) but I have hit a plateau and am confused. For the last several weeks (maybe longer) I have been bouncing around between 169 and 173. I decided to really faithfully track my calories to have a better understanding of what was really going into my body. The results amazed me. My average is about 800 but it can vary anywhere from 500-1300. Funny how things change. The days when I thought I was eating constantly, I was still eating low calories. I think my carbs are a bit high averaging around 80 grams but all from complex sources. My sugar intake is low and my fat...well, it can by a bit on the high side but no where near what I used to eat.

I also started doing interval training 3-5 days a week at the gym. This is so fun to me because I can RUN!!! It ain't pretty but it is a run. And I have noticed that my leg muscles are really starting to built up. I am so proud of myself for this. I do include any exercise calories burned in my tracker.

My theory is that my body has found the weight that it seems happy with. This might by my natural weigh...It is close to what it was in high school and everywhere I have read says that you body's happy weight occurs around that time. I hope this is all making sense. But I worry about the fact that I may not be eating enough. Maybe my body is in starvation mode and my metabolism is messed up or something.

Should I just be more patient and keep on keeping on or am I missing something. How many calories is someone as far out as I am usually eating. I have been taking measurements and they are staying the same as well. I guess mostly I am just frustrated and need to hear from others that understand. I am thrilled to have gone from a size 26 to a 16 but I really don't want to stay a 16. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You don't have to be done if you aren't where you want to be.

Protein first veggies next . I am sure you've heard it all . Change your exercise around. Intervals are good, but any extra cardio you can get in will burn calories. Have you ever tried Zumba?

There are a lot of people who swear they can't lose if they let their carbs go over 30 per day.

I agree with oregon daisy. Try to reduce your carb intake and increase your Water. You will get the scales moving again. I average around 30 to 35 carbs and eat mostly proteins..You will break the plateau .

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
