Hi, I'm looking into having Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy VSG. I have decide to have the surgery, but I need some help with picking the right Doctor for the right price. I'm paying Cash. I live in Augusta GA and would love to hear from anyone who is willing to share the VSG pre and post operation experience with me? I would love to hear from you if you've had a great experience and even if you had a bad one ... ALL help needed... Thanks

My doc here in Birmingham AL charges 14500 for cash pay. I had a hard time with nausea and gas the first few days ( I was sleeved on 3/9), but am doing much better now. Tonight I ate about 4 bites of egg salad and 3 bites of mushed baked potato. These were little bites too!even though the first days were hard I KNOW it will only get better and I am on my way to a better life.

I hope you can find someone close. I can't IMAGINE travelling too far just after. I was in the hospital for 2 days and the 10 minute drive from the hospital to my bed was something i'd rather not do again.

Although, a bunch of people on the boards here have gone as far as out of the country, so it's technically feasible to travel...

I highly recommend Dr Aceves. Check through the board messages for reviews of him, the staff, and the hospital. He is the most expensive doc in Mexico, but not as much as docs in the US. He is extremely skilled. 3 days in a real hospital (not a clinic), excellent surgery technique, and a fantastic support staff. I have read OTHER people's comments that if you have the money, go to Dr Aceves.

Good luck in your search---

Lara

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
