Ok so i'm hopefully gearing up for my VS soon and I was wondering, do you have to take out all your piercings for surgery? I have both nipples done and i'm afraid that since they haven't been pierced that long, it will be a problem if I have to take them out.

LOL no not at all!!! There are PLENTY of other places you could get pierced LOL... I've seen them!!!

Just be honest and let them know that it will be very difficult, if not impossible, for you to take out the piercings.. They will work with you, I'm sure!!

oh believe me I know, I had a VCH but ended up taking it out not long ago because I kept having problems with it so I guess it wont be so bad considering now I only have 2 piercings, instead of 3 lol

The nurse that preped me for surgery said: Don't tell me where they are, just take them ALL out.

They even made me take off my wedding ring... It's all metal and you can't have it on, in case something goes wrong and they need to use the defibrillator. Of corse nothing will go wrong, it's a very remote possibility, but still I don't think you want to risk it! Nipples are VERY close to where the defribillator should be used...

When I had my tongue pierced I used plastic piercings instead of the metal ones... Why don't you ask in the shop if they can change them? You don't know exactly when your surgery will be, right? I'd let them heal more and when you get closer to the your date I'd go for plastic.

It's just an idea... Check with your surgeon first, it surely isn't the first time he's got to deal with piercings!

I had to take out all mine.. including nipple .... *my parents now know :S awwwkwward!!*

omg i would die if my parents found out ( I think they would die as well) lmao

I thought they would make me take them out but wasn't sure, using the plastic barbells is a good idea, im just scared to change them cause i have a friend that changed hers too soon and she ended up with an infection in her breast  scary stuff... I had them pierced about 3 months ago so they might be ok...

You might ask the people at the shop to change them... I'd be scared to do it myself (nipples seem so delicate with my tongue I had no problems though)!

I had a bobby pin in my hair and that had to go on the day of surgery so the nip rings probably will too. But your piercer should be able to get you some silicon barbells or hoops just for the time being. I know what you mean though. I had had mine done for about a year and when I decided to take them out (just for personal reasons) they closed up super fast. So if you want to keep them I'd trying to get a retainer and get them switched out by the professionals before surgery. Good luck! I miss my nipple rings lol

I have both my nipples pierced, and the nurse asked the anesthesiologist, and he said shouldn't be a problem, they taped everything else. my ears, wedding ring, good girl ring, everything. I would have took them out, had them 5 yrs now, but didn't have too. think it just depends on the comfort level of your team

I'd suggest using plastic stuff.... I know my hospital was against ANY Metal.

I had hair bling in... and I had to explain to EVERYONE I saw that while it may look shiny and metallic it is NOT metal.

I'm an Registered Nurse in an Operating room and yes, you will most likely have to remove any piercings. The reason that we as nurses and doctors require that is because in the OR we use cautery (which helps to stop bleeding). If you have metal on your body you run the risk of getting an electrical burn (rare, but it happens). If that happens you may end up needing a skin graft, etc... If you're really worried, mention it to your surgeon, and ask if you can replace them with plastic studs (which you can get at any tattoo/piercing studio). Help this helps.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
