I had a twoterville moment today...I tried on and fit into 26/28 pants!! Real pants! Not stretchy ones...Okay - so they JUST fit and I'm not quite ready to wear them to work yet, but they were on sale for 11.99 and I knew when I do fit in them comfortably they won't be on sale or they won't have my size, so I bought them and put them away for a couple of weeks :welldoneclap: But I got them over my stomach and around my butt - so darn it! They FIT!!!

Congratulations Stephanie! I remember the moment when I first wore pants that zip up and had no elastic. It was just like 2 months ago. EVERYONE notices that kind of thing, whether they say so or not. It's a huge NSV. Congratulations!

I've only had one NSV since then (at least that makes the formal list), which is that I noticed one day not long after the pants moment that I was sitting with my legs crossed in my armchair. Now that's my favorite position! It'll be a long time before my legs stay crossed in an upright chair, but in my cushy armchair, I feel just great.

Be sure to post when you wear those pants to work for the first time. Don't wait more than 10 days or so to try them on again or when you do, they might be too big!

LapBandit, when did your plateau break? You were 3-4 days ahead of me in it starting and I'm ready for mine to break! I'm coming off my slow cycle tomorrow (my pattern seems to be 1 good week of losing and 1 week of practically nothing, alternating) and expect to see some movement soon, I hope....

In any event, YEA FOR YOU!

Well holiday family BBQ was today.

Between Steak, grilled marinated veggies, watermelon and yes I had a 3"sq brownie I came in under 1200 calories for the day :D Hopefully I will see the payoff in the scales tomorrow if not then the next couple of days.

And thanks for all the support :welldoneclap: I too am just about ready to wear my 28's out in public :)

Molly and Ericsmom-you guys rock! Isn't that awesome to try on clothes and have them fit. And yes, I say you officially get credit for fitting into a pair of pants even if they're too small. My motto is...if they physically fit onto my body and I can zip them without using tools then it counts!!

Julie...I finally broke free after all those yucky TOM hormones passed! Thanks for noticing! You'll be busting loose from your plateau any day now!

Thanks guys! I'm excited to actually wear them. Although they are pull-on elastic waists, they will still be great to wear. They just felt kind of awkward when I sat down in them in the dressing room, so I'll follow your advice and try them again in 10 days

Yay LapBandit, your plateau has ended :D

Not much to say here till Monday when I weigh in, home with a sprained back today :( Was out working on the pond and well..... But school requires us to stand all day, no way I can handle that today. On the real bummer side I get to stay home and relax an extra day :)

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
