Well went for my second post op visit. Thought I was doing pretty good, but doc said that typically I should have had more weight loss at this point. About 4 months out and down 54 pounds. Behaving my self and doing what I'm supposed to. Prior vo2 testing showed a super slow metabolism to begin with. Hopefully that's the culprit. At any rate, that report kinda knocked me back a peg or ten :( Am down 3 pants sizes and have more energy. Praying that my progress will be up to standards next time. End pity party ;P

Don't get discouraged! 54 pounds in 4 months is a heck of a lot of weight!! Don't listen to the negative talk... I would say listen if you were gaining. But, golly! 54 pounds is HUGE!! Celebrate that loss and keep doing what you are doing!!

I agree with the last post. Don't get discouraged! You have done a lot so far with 54 pounds lost. I know that with my loss, I feel so much better, have more self confidence and energy and definitely like myself more now. Celebrate the fact you are moving in the right direction and don't let any tell you otherwise. Keep the faith, because you are better for the changes that you have made.

PS-I go tomorrow to see my surgeon for my second post surgery appointment. I dare him to say something negative. I may say something as they took 13 vials of blood before the holidays and they haven't shared the results yet with me!

My doctor won't set goal weights and doesn't really track weight loss (at least not officially), as the focus is entirely on health and well-being. Yes, you will lose weight by having a bariatric surgery, of course, but they just refuse to let that be the main focus. This has been for me personally a very good thing -- as I have a history of being obsessive and compulsive about weight, calorie tracking, etc. It also helps me stay off the scales at home a bit more. ;)

About 4 months out and down 54 pounds. B

Listen, 54 lbs in 4 months is great!! Could you do that without the Sleeve? The Dr was probably thinking statiscally, and hopefully didn't mean to offend you. 3 pants sizes is really great. Remember, some people lose faster because they have more to lose. There are a lot of factors in weight loss: Thyroid function, total excess weight, metabolism function, diet and exercise. So give yourself a BIG pat on the back, because you are doing great.

Keep up the great job and stay positive :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
