Excited, Nervous, and Confused

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I just joined this forum because it looks like a fun way to communicate with fellow sleevers. I have my surgery my next week. I am so excited, nervous, anxious, and just well confused. I have read up from many different members about their success stories, but I keep thinking to myself oh wow that person lost 50 lbs in 3 months or 100 lbs in 4 months, but I keep thinking there is no way that will happen for me. I have had a lifetime of failure with dieting and just am amazed that this could really happen. My doctor said that I should lose at least 160 lbs to be at normal weight. What is "normal" anyway?? I am so excited, but I feel like my pre-op diet isn't going so well. I keep trying to make it go better and doing better, but I just keep thinking that I can still eat right now. I am going on a cruise in September and have set my goal to lose 100 lbs in six months. Do you guys think that I really lose the weight in the period of time or not??

I just joined the site today! I have a tenative surgery date of April 18th. I am like you and have tons of emotions going on. I want to be that person that loses a significant amount of weight in 6 months as well. I am unsure about my expectations however I think if we stay motivated we can do it! Good luck to you next week and the upcoming weeks on reaching your goal.

I am going through many emotions also, my date is April 4th! After going as long as I did and taking the 6 months of classes I know I am ready. I couldn't have been prepared

had I not went to classes. It really got me in the mindset to do this and make the changes to my life. Hang in there it is something that everyone goes through...

Good Luck!

G

You should not compare yourself to any others here, everyone loses at a different rate and there are so many factors. You will lose a significant amount of weight over 6 months if you follow the advice of your doctor and nutritionist. If you set a number to it you are only setting yourself up for failure...

With that being said it is good to have goals but they should be realistic... One of the things I asked my doctor was how much should I expect to lose... I was told 10-15 lbs a months for the first several months. I was fortunate to lose 100 lbs in the first 6 months and have lost 12 lbs over the past two months.

My doctor also told me he could see me being 270 after all was said and done... I've already seen 257 lbs although I gained a bit recently... I do plan on getting to a lighter weight.

You should know at one month out how realistic 100 lbs over 6 months is for you on your journey good luck!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
