Poodles 0 Posted June 24, 2006 OMG, I am home after my hernia surgery this morning. SIX incisions, and PAIN, PAIN, PAIN!!! I only had to drive/ride 15 minutes instead of an hour and a half, and I felt like dying. This is so, so, so, bad. I am typing while under the influence (codeine) and still hurting. I would have a lap band put in any day over this. Feels like I have been stabbed, beaten, run over, and punched again. And that is putting it mildly.:think Even feels worse than my c-section. How is that possible??? So guys/gals if you have ever survived one of these and are worried about being banded... don't be! At least this is my last surgery (I hope). Rockin' Robyn 15 Posted June 24, 2006 Sorry you are not feeling well. Get better soon. Also, I'm not too excited to hear this since I will be having my gall bladder taken out next Friday, along with a hernia repair. Although my hernia isn't the typical hernia.....my lap-band tubing has actually poked out (herniated) through my abdominal/muscle wall and needs to be fixed as it is getting painful. Hoping my experiences are not the same...... But anyway, hang in there. This too shall pass:) Robyn
Poodles 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Well I made it thru the night. It was a rough one though. Still have a hard time standing up. Six holes in my gut hurt so much worse than the ones up top. My hubby made a point this morning about the whole thing. Said I was still hurting from the lap band (port site) and then this on top of it just makes it that much worse. Having three surgeries in three months is a lot. If we could have seperated it out a little more it might not have been so bad. But I needed to get it done this month to be ready for the start of school. Good thing this doctor was not skimpy on the good stuff. I have a pint of codeine, with one refill. So I should be ok. Might be a druggie by the end of the summer, but should make it thru... Robyn: I sure wish you luck. Since your hernia is up top (I assume) it should be much easier. Like I said I would have a lap band any day compared to this.
Time to love me 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Poodles... I'm hoping you have a speedy recovery, sorry you're in so much pain. Just think to yourself that every day that you wake up, is better than your last. Robyn.... Good luck with your surgery. I had my gall bladder out, but mine was done the long way, not laproscopically. It didn't matter to me, just having all that pain go away was worth it all. Any how.. many wishes to a speedy recovery, please let us know when you come home.
aaamom 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Hey poodles~ I had three hernia surgeries in a year (and one appendectomy thrown in) and I have to agree- they are much worse than the lap band. It is major abdominal surgery. Takes a while to recoup, but you will feel stronger/better each day. The best thing you can do for yourself is rest rest rest for a week or two. Hope you feel better and don't be afraid to take your pain meds.
FunnyDuddies 6 Posted June 26, 2006 Oh poodles I hope you feel better soon. I know after every surgery i have i ask myself why in the world I have been put in that situation. Time does heal all wounds, and thankfully it will be a distant memory soon. Hang in there, and take your drugs. LOL
Poodles 0 Posted June 26, 2006 Woke up this morning feeling a bit better. Took a shower and found another incision. That makes SEVEN total. No wonder I feel like I have been run over and then some. Can actually get out of the recliner by myself today. But don't think I will be running any races... Thanks for the happy thoughts!
