Ok this is the first time I have had to deal with outside fast food since surgery!! My hubby and daughter brought back Cheeseburgers and Fries for dinner. The smell alone is about to knock me out! It smells so good! I know this is the kind of thing that I am going to have to get used to, but it doesnt make it easy!! Yum!

LOL!! Yeah that's going to happen, your family I suppose needs to eat even though you aren't able to right now. I would suggest running up to your room and burying yourself in a book or a good TV show. I have to tell you, watching TV shows that showcase Super or Morbidly Obese folks and Weight Loss really keeps me focused on the task at hand, and that is getting to goal!!

Hang in there, and by all means excuse yourself for I know the smell is really good. ;) Someone at my office was eating fried potatoes of some sort this morning, likely hash browns... I about nearly fainted it smelled so delicious...

I think that is a good idea to go in another room. I guess I am trying to be strong for my family and tell them it is ok that they eat whatever they want. Inside it is killing me. Thanks for the help! Definitely gonna try it!! One day at a time, One day at a time, One day at a time........

I am a bit selfish, and at the same time it does the world of good to my family, but as much as possible I avoid fast food in the house now. My husband had a few lbs to lose and he has lost around 10 since I got sleeved, and my girls have a healthier diet as well now. But when you can't avoid it I agree, go to your room to avoid the smell an d don't watch them eat!

Thanks Chilo1! I appreciate the post. I think once I get off this 2 week post op clear liquid phase and get back to work, I too will try and get my family to eat better. I think we ALL could use a complete overhaul! I love the fact that we all are going to be more healthy and strong for each other. And when that fast food crap has to come into the house due to son's late soccer practice or game I will go straight into another room. Thanks for the support!

It most definitely gets easier as you get further out from the surgery. Right now, not only can you not have the junk food, you can't have ANY solid food! Once it gets to the point that you can eat some food, you'll find it's a lot easier to just make the healthier choice! Great job in staying strong!!!

I am a former cheeseburger-aholic and have recently been craving one really bad. I decided to just take a bite hoping I could move on. Well, it tasted sooo gross to me! I could really taste the greesy fat and had no desire to take another bite. I am so glad I just tried it rather than obsessing over what I couldn't have.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
