I was sleeved 1 month ago and lost a good bit the first 3 weeks. Now I am stalled and have not lost a single pound in a week (week 3-4).

Also, mentally, I can't seem to judge the amount of food I can hold and often overeat by just 2 bites and that causes great gastric distress.

I then have to sit still and vertical for 30 minutes as things settle while feeling like I am going to throw up the whole time.

Anyone else stalled?

How much food can you eat in terms of volume?

I am posting this in the man room as things seem to be quite different for the women.

Pretty much everyone stalls at the 3rd or 4th week. Just the body trying to figure out what is going on. What I tend to do for figuring out my eating is I measure 4 oz of really mushy food and slowly eat. When I get to about 1 oz left I take a bit wait a couple of mins take another bit wait another couple of mins and that helps with the delay of your stomach letting you know its full.

I'm about 3.5 months post op now. I did not hit a week long stall but did have periods where there was very little weight loss, but it does seem to even out over a few days/weeks.

I had a hard time figuring out the quantity earlier as well. I actually bought a food scale so I could measure my 3-4 oz of food. That helped me get an understanding of how much an ounce or 3-4 ounces was. I also started splitting my meals into two servings, by only putting 2 ounces or so on the plate in one go and taking a 30 min break between the two servings. That helped with the accidental overeating. The food you can hold does go up as time goes by as well.

How many calories are you getting? Eating too little can cause a stall as well.

look up 3 week stall it is very common... I myself stalled for 7 weeks at 6 months out. Just keep following your doctors recommendations and contact your nutritionist. Your body may have gone into starvation mode stopping the weight loss. You may have to try getting in some liquid calories to let your body know everything will be alright.

Good Luck!

my nutrition manual says to go by VOLUME not WEIGHT. I have some 1 and 2 ounce cups that I fill with my food for now. But I am only 5 days out.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
