Starting my seventh week since being sleeved - Looking for food tracking apps

Recommended Posts

I starting my seventh week since being sleeved and I'm seeing some significant changes. I've dropped 54 lbs since my pre-op weigh-in and 73 lbs from my high weight when I made my decision to start down this path. I'm also seeing some slowing in the decline of my quick weight loss of the first of the few weeks as I've moved into regular foods. If only it would continue but I understand the process. I'm beginning to add some exercise into my routine (3-5 mile walks) so I know this will help my metabolism.

I'm using an app for my Blackberry to track the foods I eat called Calorie Counter by Fat Secret. It gives me Protein counts and seems to have almost every kind of food out there. Any one try this app or other apps? Tips for tracking? I'm always looking for tips and this forum seems to have a lot of motavated and creative people.

I use Myfitnesspal.com as well, and I have the app on my Droid X. I love it. At first I just wrote down everything I ate in a notebook, but this is soooo much easier. I love being able to track calories, Protein, carbs, sugar, everything, and you can go back to any date, even look at graphs. It also has a thing where you can scan barcodes and it puts the info in, I have only come across a few foods that it didn't find.

I just got an update to my Calorie Counter app and now it has ADS on the screen! I hate spam. I checked out the app you all recommended and they don't have it for Blackberry so I'll have to wait but it looks good.

I started using myfitnesspal on the recommendation of others on this Board and I love it too! It does have a Blackberry app now too. It's very easy to use.

I use Tap & Track on the iPhone. Very helpful app. It comes with a database, the ability to add custom foods, restaurant nutritional data, etc. Tracks weight, Protein, calories, carbs, everything but Water. It charts your info too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
