Is there anything safe for us to take to get back in a normal sleep pattern? I've only slept about 3 hours for a couple nights now. I am tired and not too uncomfortable, I just can't sleep.

We were sleeved the same day. I have been taking a pain pill at bedtime along with a melatonin. sleeping somewhat. You should see my bed though...It looks like a little boys fort (haha). I have SOOOOO many pillows in there, and I try not to move them as I crawl back into bed at night. Good Luck, it seems to be getting better.

I am having difficulty getting the fluids in. How much can you drink at a time, before you know it's too much??

I would take a Melatonin. It always helps me sleep. Its natural and safe.

mjb123, i'm in the same boat. I'm sleeping about 3 hours per night, but I am able to get in a couple of small naps during the day too.

I have gotten to where I take a swig of my liquid pain medication when I'm settling in for the night, because it helps get me comfortable, and sleepy enough to drop off.

Every single day gets a little better!

I spoke to my nurse from the clinic yesterday and after letting her know I had tried Benedryl (which was on our list of safe meds to take) she told me it was ok to try tylenol PM. I slept 8 hours last night. I feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better. Thank you all for your suggestions!!!

Glad you are getting some sleep. It's weird but at the

one week follow up sessions I attended EVERYONE said they were having trouble sleeping. Could it be the anesthesia? Not in much pain after 3-4 days. As I recall it didn't last long, though. A couple of weeks.

I was like you, for about a week that is all I was able to sleep 3hrs a night!!!! Few naps during the days but the naps would be approx an hr long or less. Now I sleep from 10pm-10:30am (taking advantage of my medical leave! lol)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
