Quite a few actually. The most common fix is a Proton Pump Inhibitor like Prilosec OTC. It works well.

A word of caution - don't take Calcium carbonate aka Tums. This can build up in the kidneys and cause kidney stones - very painful.

I've taken Nexium and am now on Prilosec, neither seem to be working very well. I still get indigestion really bad. My doctor said has told me to take Maalox along with the PPI and that helps, but it doesn't cure. I am to try to the Prilosec for a month, and if that doesn't work I'll try Previcid. I never had reflux problems like this before my surgery!

I would recommend Prilosec OTC or its generic omeprazole. I tried OTC famotidine, ranitidine and cimetidine. They all wore off too fast. Maybe their dosage was to low. The 20mg omeprazole twice a day works great.

Wow. We had the surgery on the same day! I also had major problems with reflux. I was taking prevaicd OTC and told my doc it just wasn't enough. She gave me a prescription for omeprazole 40mg (same thing twice the dose to take once a day and that seems to have done it. Good Luck.

I take Nexium. However, if I get heartburn and I need quick relief, I drink a cup of skim milk.

I was sleeved on March 1st. Until March 10th I've had no problems with refulx. The last couple of days have been over the top though. I'm having major reflux problems. I am going to start taking Prilosec OTC today.

I had surgery 2/28 and I am also having problems with acid reflux. Dr. puts all patients on a prilosec or nexium powder. I tried both, but they make me so ill that I can't drink the whole thing. Not sure what to do. The pain is horrible! It had me up all night last night. Plus when I take my Vitamins, it makes it worse! I have tried to take them with food, with Water, with nothing....but it is always the same.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
