Hey Canada Sunshine...

wow..yea...wrt the $$ thing, it does seem circumstances are working against you!!! LOL>..damn PC Financial!! However, the solution you came up with with your mom sounds good. Now...as far as getting it there for Tues...NO PROBLEM.....even if you FEDEX it on Mon, it will be there on Tues! If you can, try and FEDEX it today....if you can't....do it on Monday....and then call Kathy and tell her you FEDEXed it and it should be there on Tues. You can even give her the tracking # so she knows it is on the "up and up". In addition to the call...e-mail her the same info (about fedexing etc) so that she also has the info in "writing".

Good luck....and don't let this drawback bring you down. And, don't forget...that office works for YOU...not the other way around!!

:biggrin1:

YEAHHHHHHH SUNSHINE!!!!!! She's back in the saddle!! I am pretty sure that if you keep in contact with the office, that they won't cancel. I don't think that they can fill the spot because know one else will be ready with the pre-op diet. I can't see them turning away $15,000.00. In the meantime if they had just cashed the damn cheque they'd have the money:confused: . Anyway I'm glad to hear your doing better, stick with it, it's gonna work out I promise. I cannot believe the time your having with Dr. Cobourns office. I had nothing but good vibes there, but I tell ya when I'm there next, I'm going to tell him. That's not good for his business, he may not even know patients are being treated like that, it's appalling!! He's soooo awesome, I woulnd'nt trade him for anything, just step over top of her. She needs to be told!! Have a great day Sunshine... when is your surgery date, I forgot?

We got 'er done!

It was a brutal scramble and we went through a couple failed attempts and a near car accident..but we managed to get a bank draft in the mail today.:clap2:

Cloe I agree 100% about "why don't they just cash the damn cheque" lol ...but hey policy is policy. Not to mention they "WERE VERY CLEAR ON THAT!:angry " LOL

Bah! I don't feel bad anymore. I had to make the executive decision to take myself off the Opticrap and use a whey Protein blend instead. Since I never did receive a response, I guess I'm kind of on my own with this issue anyway. So EFF 'EM!!

I will show up on my date with a shrunken tummy and liver...and hopefully leave with a band. Fact of the matter is, this doesn't need to be a positive experience, even if I had been excited and overjoyed about it. I was so broken hearted that the whole thing was going to make me feel awful and upset just because I dont get along with my patient coordinator...

...I now realise I don't have to. I need to lose the weight and get on with my life, not make friends with icky Kathy or LOVE my trip to Toronto.

Kathy can be nasty, and Toronto can even suck if it wants to. I'm coming for my band!!!:P

Thank you Yoda for your suggestions...I am going to send that email with the tracking number. I am also going to request a new support person, (as soon as I'm feeling brave)...(or pissed off enough) lol

and Cloe, you're right about Dr. Cobourn's office. It is not a negative place, and Dr. Cobourn is GREAT and so is Marie. I hope I haven't given any newbies a poor impression of him just because of this little issue I've got. Nobody was more surprised than me when things started to go sour.

ALL you girls rock. :whoo: Your kindness has made a HUGE impact on my decision to carry on. I cannot thank you enough. :nervous :)

Hey Sunshine,

I'm way behind, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're having such a sucky time with this Kathy b!tch... I don't even know who that is. Never heard of a Kathy from there. I thought maybe Karen (who's Dr. C's wife)... but there must be a Kathy.

The 'money person' I dealt with was Rose. She was suuuuper nice. I would suggest you call, and as to speak to Rose. You could tell her that you've been dealing with 'Kathy' up til now, but she's been very unpleasant to you, and you feel like backing out of the whole thing rather than have to deal with her anymore! Tell her that we all said you should talk with her (Rose) instead.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
