Hello everyone, this is my first time posting and I am doing so because I just need a smidge of reassurance. I am in my 7th week since surgery, and I am having serious issues with eating and I have read some older posts from people like macmadame who went through the same thing as I am back in 2009 but I was just wondering if there are any more recent sleevers who are struggling as I am.

I am NOT interested in food what so ever. I can get my liquids in fine but not food or Protein shakes. Why, because I get such a full feeling so fast that I am uncomfortable and well, beyond the full feeling. I do not vomit, but even after two bites, I could call it quits. MacMadame described it in a post as not being depressed about the feelings, but pissy and she could not have said it better. I am pissy. I have talked to two people that work with my doctor who say that this is normal, it takes longer for some people to lose the initial extreme restriction. Could take 2 - 6 months even. SERIOUSLY!!!???

Anyone else struggling to get their Protein and/or food in general in in a day because they have no desire to eat and it makes them feel icky? I want to say nauseated, but it's not to the point where I get sick. I dread getting up each morning practically because I know that I am starting another day of trying to eat without feeling like crap afterwards.

Please tell me there are others out there who have experienced what I am going through and that it will get better because I feel like I could crack. :(

Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Why is this a bad thing?? I LOVE that I feel full and uncomfortable after a couple bites. I haven't been doing my full Protein according to my doctor, but I feel great and have enough energy to work out and be chipper.

Maybe instead of "bites" you should be taking "gulps" of Protein shake? I would personally rather have something liquid than something I have to chew these days.

Buchannon, it's not that I want quantity over quality, it's that I don't want to feel sick after I eat my small portions. That's what bothers me. Also, I can't gulp anything just yet. I wouldn't say I sip, but I don't gulp if that makes any sense. I agree, drinking is easier than eating at this point for sure.

Omg! I thought I was the only one who would rather drink than eat any day. My sisters often fuss at me because I'll drink a Protein Shake instead of eating a meal at night when I come home from work.

Up to this week I have not felt hungry! I was sleeved 1/26/2011. food is just work and would rather drink as well. Plus I fill so fast with food. Having issues with many things wanting to stay down.

Hi Abbey, I don't want to sound dismissive but enjoy it while it lasts! wink.gif I felt like that for about a month, but there's less to recover from with a plication. I've read that's what termed as your 'window of opportunity' for losing weight generally lasts only 6 months, so once you're closer to your old self you'll probably long to have these days back again.

I read a book today that said that even the most finicky Protein Shake person would love these recipes

I totally agree. Enjoy it while it last. There is a 6 month window where you should lose the most weight that u can becuz later it gets harder and harder. Sometimes I long for the early days.

You guys on this site are awesome, I knew I could count on you to reassure me and let me know the honest to goodness truth, good or bad. I can't help but look forward to easier days ahead. There is a light at the end of this very restricted tunnel! lol --- in the meantime I will try to make the most of it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
