I had my wls 2 weeks ago on the 21st but I've only lost 6 lbs so far. Is that normal? Im really having a hard time getting my Protein in and could use some ideas I guess. I don't like Protein Shakes at all so I bought some Isopure drinks but can't seem to fit it in between all the water! Any suggestions on getting the protein in would be awesome! Thanks!

well my doc tells me when you are drinking in the liquid stage the Water that is in your Protein Shakes count as you daily water intake.. so If you drink 3 Protein shakes a day you will be getting 18 ounces of water..so you will only need 42 ounces of water to complete the daily water intake..

Hi there and welcome to the losers bench! Your weight loss is very normal They pump you full of fluids in the hospital and it takes to work out of your body. Also your body is in a bit of shock from surgery and holding on to everything to play it safe.

You will see the weight loss pick up soon.

I know some of the Protein Shakes can be awful! Have you ordered samples from different companies to see what kind you like? I know somedays I do not want to have a shake so I have some milk and add unflavoured Unjury Protein to it. Are you able to drink milk yet? Or does your body reject it? Try almond milk or soy milk or lactaid milk? I have heard you can add powdered milk to your milk to double up on the protein. These are the best suggestions I can give you for the liquids stages.

We had our surgery on the same date and I too have lost only 7lb. The ease that I have getting fluids, and soft foods in worries me. I wonder if they did the sleeve the same as others, because I had a band in that was tigh. They took the band out and did the sleeve. Greek yogurt is a great way to get Protein in.

Can you drink skim milk? That helps too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
