Emotional & Mental Aspects Post-Op

Recommended Posts

This is very normal part of the losing stage for us girlies. Estrogen is stored in our fat cells. During rapid weight loss, it's released into our bodies thus causing hormone overload.

I was in full b*tch on attack mode for a solid 6-8 months. During my ovulation week, I am a raging lunatic with mood swings. I love the world one day, and the next, I'm ready to throat punch most humans that breathe in my direction. It's not pleasant for anyone involved.

My husband said "you used to never act like this". Because every month, I go on batsh(t crazy for a couple of days. It's always tied to my PMS/Ovulation/right before my period. You might also start feeling "hungry" or like you could everything in sight. I know all I want to do is chow on carbs. I can say that I now have extremely regular, light periods. Unfortunately, the mood swings and emotions are almost not worth having a super light, regular period.

Things will level off once your weight loss kind of stabilizes. When you are losing on a more regular basis, and your body starts adjusting, things do get better.

Just warn your family/friends that this is a normal side-effect of rapid weight loss, and apologize profusely for any rants/raves that might occur.

This explains a lot! I thought it was just because I couldn't eat, drink or smoke anymore!

It can effect us guys too sometimes but for different reasons. About 3 months prior to surgery it was discovered that I was low in testosterone. I started taking twice monthly injections and it really helped. Then came the surgery. I just went back for my 6 month checkup and my test. level had skyrocketed. Simple reason; there is less of me to spread the hormone out in. My doc even told me that he's seen other males with rapid weight loss have a dramatic increase for the same reason, the fact that I was supplementing my levels just made it worse. Excess test. can cause unwanted aggression and an emotional roller coaster in mew.

Same here Tiffy except mine wasn't tied to PMS. I was in full throttle evil bitch mode for about 3 weeks straight a week after my surgery. My husband said the same thing to me too. About 6/7 weeks out now I'm a lot more calm. Next week I'm supposed to start and so far haven't had any of my usual PMS kick in (extremely tired/lazy, carb attacks, wanting to eat anything thatd stand still...etc) but the week isn't over yet ;)

Thank God, because I literally thought I was losing my mind!!! I am only a few weeks post op but I am in full on evil bitch mode. When I am at work, I control it but man when I come in the door to the house...I am letting it go. My period did start and usually its light and right now its flowing so I knew something was up with my body and the moods. Thanks Tif!!

I'm 5 days out and feeling really irritable (I yelled at my dogs for barking, not caring that they are dogs and that is what they do). I think a small part of it is that my surgeon took me off my BC pills to reduce the risks of blood clots. But I've now started my period again, even though I had it a week before surgery. Small things are p*$$ing me off and I just want to scream and throw things. I'm not usually like this and I don't like being such a moody b*+ch. Anyone have any advice on how do deal with being so irritable?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
