Brielle 0 Posted March 5, 2011 Before my surgery, I had gone about 5 months with no period. The month of my surgery, I got it (in January), and then in February I got it, and it's STILL here. I've been on my period for almost 3 weeks now!!! And it's not a light one either, it's heavy and i'm having a lot of pain with it. It's slightly ridiculous. Just wondering if anyone else has been here. I was so used to not having a period, and then BAM!, a three week long period?! Do I need to tell my doctor, or what? I'm 19, by the way... if that helps at all.
Tiffykins 673 Posted March 5, 2011 It's all the crazy hormones. Estrogen is stored in our fat cells so when we lose weight rapidly, it all releases into our bodies. You might find your moods swingings too. I had pretty crazy cycles the first couple of months, but everything did settle down. Once my body regulated, my periods became very regular and light. The more weight I lost, the lighter my periods became. Yes, you should consult your surgeon. Make sure you are taking your Vitamins, and keep pushing fluids. Infernored 5 Posted March 5, 2011 My period has been irregular since I was a teenager. I could go 3 months without, or I could have it for 3 months + straight through, and very heavy also. Then again I have been overweight forever. I just started using the Instead menstrual cup yesterday (you can get it at Walgreens) and it has already changed my life. I change it ever 12 hours and no leaking, no messes and it's way more comfortable. WHY I haven't heard of this sooner is crazy to me. I've had my period now since december 5th, but now I barely even notice it. This alone has changed my life. I can't wait til surgery! Hope this helps! MRSKOUBiK 27 Posted March 5, 2011 I feel you. My period was late before surgery. And, I feel like it's playing games with me now! I'm 3 months out and have had my period 4 times... and tons of spotting!
Becca 108 Posted March 6, 2011 My body is out of whack too. I got my period right after surgery and then again two other times in two months! I hope it works itself out soon. My head hunger goes crazy from the hormones.
Kris 78 Posted March 21, 2011 I guess I'm the opposite -- I used to be very regular with my periods before surgery. My last period started the day I was released from the hospital -- jan. 10 th. I'm going on 3 months without a period. I'm too young to be in menopause and definitely not pregnant. I am actually really happy to not have periods and hope this lasts a while!
