I had my surgery 1/26/11. I have just had 4 bites of a hamburger and I am over stuffed. I stopped my fluids 30 minutes ago and chewed at least 25 times. The same thing happens with chicken. Is this normal?

Yes, it is normal. Dense Proteins, like ground beef, and chicken seem to fill up faster. It does get a bit looser as the swelling keeps going down.

Yes, the same thing happens to me when I have some ground beef or chicken. Ground turkey (Jennie-O) goes down and feels soooo much better.

My NUT said that chicken is one of those foods that actually gets bigger as you chew it. Therefore, the advice I was given for chicken was take smaller than dime size bites (pea size) and chew them less. This way they don't "grow" in your mouth and pouch. I'm not able to have beef until like 3 months out.

I was sleeved 12/16/10 and wasnt able to eat more than 8 bites of spaghetti with lean ground beef tonight. You will learn what is easier to eat as you go along. chicken is still hard for me as well. Easiest thing for me to eat is food cooked in the crockpot! Its so moist and easy!
