bad taste

I am 8 days after surgery and get a horrible bitter, metallic, dry, sometimes fatty taste and sensation in my mouth and my teeth feel coated even after cleaning. Has anyone else experienced this and/or found a way to combat it? )

Nearly everyone has it. It is due partly to a process called ketosis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketosis , it is basically due to burning off of fat. I still get it after 90 pounds down. It may take 6 months or more to clear up. Take advantage of it as your appitite is off and it is easier to NOT eat.

It sounds like you are having reflux problems. I am almost 2 1/2 months out and I am still dealing with it. The best thing I have found that works with the taste is 3 hours mints "I found them at Target" the feeling on your teeth will eventually go away, but until then try brushing more often. Also warm/hot tea works well with washing the taste down.

Thanks everyone for your input. Reassuring to know, I have found extra brushing and hot tea and chewing gum all helps. It seems to be diminishing somewhat now .... )
