What is my problem?!?!?!?!

Recommended Posts

I'm so sick of my self & my laziness!! For the first 8 months of being banded, I did EXCELLENT!! I lost 63 lbs. I worked out 5 times a week & felt so good. I had so much energy.

In the past 2 months I have completely fallen on my face!!:faint:I haven't gained any weight, but I am feeling jiggly. I haven't been to the gym once!!! Not once in over 2 months. I no longer make healthy choices when I eat & I am just sick of myself!!

I know I'm not a complete failure because I have lost 63 lbs after all! (And I DO feel good about that!) But what is my problem?! Why can't I just get with the program & get my butt back in gear & lose the last 25 lbs?!?!?

Diane: No way am I one to sugar coat things. If you feel like you are on the wrong track then use the effort and energy you put into whining about it and get back on track.

Obviously you know what to do....I know its easier said that done...but what feels better?.....being on track, exercising, eating healthfullly......or, whining about it and feeling sorry for yourself?

You have shown great success.......CONGRATS!......you can now make it even better.........so lets go!

There are lots of reasons for why we get "off track" :faint:with stuff in our lives. But, it's time to snap out of it, girl!! Even if you're at a point where you're happy with your weight then you will forever need to continue making healthy eating choices for yourself ...OR...lapband or not...those sixty pounds COULD come sneaking back and you don't want that, right? You can do it! Even if you can't fit in gym time like you used to at least focus on eating healthy again and it may spark you to get back into the gym. GOOD LUCK!!

OH MY GOSH!!! ME TOO, ME TOO!!!! You are not alone sister!!! I stopped exercising about 2 months ago and stopped losing and got stuck with about 2 or 3 pounds bouncing back and forth!!!! I got on my exercise equipment last night and about DIED! :faint: So! I am trying to get back on track but it is hard and in the end will be worth it and we both know that. Good luck!

Maybe if you changed it up Diane....go swimming rather than to the gym to work the machines. I know right now, the thought of getting all hot & sweaty working out, and then going out to my hot car is just not appealling!

I feel lethargic in this hot weather. Unless I take my granddaughter out walking early in the morning, it is too hot for her (and me!) We have been running in the sprinklers! I know it is not a consistant workout routine, but it is activity, one we both have fun at. Surely all the giggling we do burns some calories!! Does your band allow you to eat salads? I know some can, some can't. Maybe a trip to a produce shop, to buy up a load of good for you stuff to have on hand...and clean out all the bad stuff. You can do it....look at you so far! I saw your pictures, you are rightfully proud of yourself! You will get back on track, it is just another hurdle yet to overcome...will they never quit????!!! Good Luck!

Losing motivation is hard to deal with and it always seems to occur with the greatest frequency the closer one gets to goal. Sometimes, what we want the most, getting to goal, is what we fear the most. It's time to start putting yourself first again and set priorities. Focus on the great loss you have achieved and move forward. You already DID it so you KNOW you can take it ALL the way.

I heard something that made sense to me once, about whether you are moving towards something or away from something, and which is closer. What that means for us is that at first, it's about moving away from being fat, having clothes fit, feeling better, all that. But once we've moved far enough away from being fat, those things aren't so much the focus anymore. So, maybe it's time to focus less on those 25 pounds going away and more on what being at goal would be like?

Now, I'll just see if I can take my own advice after I've been banded a while!

Diane, I understand where you are coming from. I think it is the ebb and flow of weight loss and fitness. LIke me, we just need to stay on the right track and keep our motivation up. I was exercising like a fool before surgery but my weight wasn't flexuating. Now that I am banded I am having terrible motivation problems. Probably playing old tapes in my head doesn't help the matter. Good luck, baby steps and one day at a time.

Dianechef, I hope this isn't to harsh, (although it is and was said with love) but I want to give you the same advice a friend of mine gave me about 20 years ago when I was in the Air Force:

"You can either sit on your a** and b***h about it, or get off your a** and do something about it. But remember this, if you take the first choice, all you get is a flat a** and a sore throat".

Hope that helps. And please remind me of it often after I am banded and I slip up.

Gosh, Diane, thanks for this thread because I am right there, right now with you!! I have done so good to this point a nd it seems like I'm back to making bad decisions.:fish: I have found that chips & pizza :pizza:go down without any problem. Not good. I almost wish they would make me PB that way I know I wouldn't want them. It's a head game right now and I have got to fight the demons! How could I do so good and them boom...lose sight so quick. I think maybe it's like someone posted before, I've lost weight, my clothes feel good, people tell me I look good, and now I'm happier than I've been in a long time. I don't need to take a break, I need to march on. Sooooooo, I haven't offered any advice, just yakking to let you know that I know exactly how you feel. I've seen your before/after pics and you look awesome!! Let's try to hang in there!!!

Hang on Diane. It's the ebb and flow. It comes and goes. When the gumption comes back, run with it. You haven't gained, for crying out loud! That's excellent news!

Start small...just go twice a week, or just do 10 min a day, or whatever increment works that's lame but do-able. Start fresh SOMEwhere.

Once the endorphins or whatever hormones kick in that make you feel so fab, you'll get some energy back.

In the meantime, KNOW that the scale isn't the measure right now...put up with the gaining and losing the same 2-3 pounds while you get back on track, it WILL come off as you are able to step it up a bit.

You are doing great! Now, go kick some BUTT! :boxing:

Awww Diane...I hope things get better for you very soon.

I sort of had a day like this today because I chowed down on anything and everything I could get my hands on. I made horrible, HORRIBLE food choices today. This is so unlike me but I guess we all have our momentary lapses of good judgement. My only saving grace was that I walked for an hour and rode my recumbant bike for 2.5 miles.

I'm also in desperate need of a fill but won't get one until I return from our upcoming trip to Florida. I don't want another episode of being too restricted and not be able to get an emergency unfill.

So...I told my husband today that if he sees me putting any type of junk in my mouth between now and the 12th of July to take it away from me.

You all are FABULOUS!! As I sit here reading through all these messages, I KNOW there are people out there who are just like me & go through the same things!! I could just cry!!!!!! :cry

Mrs. Husker - I LOVE YOUR ADVICE!!! I think my throat is very soar right now & I better hurry up & get with it before my ass starts becoming flat!! ROFL!!! You made my day.

To all of you who are in the same boat as me - WE CAN DO THIS!! What is it going to take?! I am seriously considering giving myself some major incentive. I'm thinking possibly a full day SPA SESSION or TOTAL BODY MAKEOVER once I hit goal. I'm all over dangling carrots!!

I'll think this over...

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GREAT ADVICE!!! :biggrin1: I LOVE LBT!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
