I recently contacted World Med Assist hoping to start my WLS journey. The coordinatior I spoke with gave me the name of a potential surgeon, Dr. Daniel Huacuz in Tijuana, Mexico. Does anyone have personal experience with this doctor? If so I'd love to hear about.

Hi Melissa I had a laband placed by Dr. Huacuz in December of 2007, due to complications I will be having revision surgery on March 22, 2011 to the VSG. I do not believe my lapband issue are due to anything Dr. Huacuz did wrong the band does fail some people. All in all I had a great experience while I was there in 2007 and trust him to perform my revision. The staff were all very competent and professional. Good luck to you with you choice of Doctors but I personally give him 2 thumbs up.

Hi

I had the gastric sleeve with Dr. Huacuz and since Ihave had so many complications. I was operated again due to a leak, then due to the infection I had lung complications, and now I have stents ( tubes) in my stomach that I will have for 6 weeks because of another small leak. I understand that there are risks , and one of them is a leak, but I used to call Dr Huacuz telling him about the pain I had and he never took me serious. Every time I called him, he will tell me to just walk and drink more Water. Then I had a very high fever and I was in a lot of pain and he said I had a urine infection and I end up in the ER getting another operation to fix the leak.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
