DH and his sweets

Recommended Posts

okay someone tell me that I am not loosing my mind. I am on day 9 of my pre-op diet. I am allowed to have 5 shakes a day no solids. I can have all the crystal light and tea I want.

Yesterday I wanted some broth from our local Chinese place my DH calls me after work and inquired on my dinner plans. I tell him I am going to get me some broth...yumm so he tells me while I am there to pick him up some rice and chicken??? What gives did I hear this right??Yep I did. So I go, and guess what all out of Soup. So, I get DH dinner...and I get to smell it the whole car ride home. I get home and its business as usual dinner for the hubby and child and me with my shake. I love the 2 of them, but to watch them have dinner and smell it too was too much for me.

So tonight the hubby has he leftovers for dinner and to top it off...he finishes it with Boston cream pie????

Now I might not be the brightest bulb in the box sometimes, but this seems a bit like torture to see if I can hang with my new lifestyle. DH tells me that this is a lot of money to spend I need to make sure that I want to do this and I can stick with this.

I love my hubby and he is always 100 % supportive ..........Is my blood sugar low ? Am I wearing my feelings on my sleeve? What is going on with me ?

Any help would be great!

Mine would do the same thing. It's not like he's trying to sabatoge, he probably just has no idea how it's affecting you. I'd suggest telling him exactly what you need right now, he's supportive guy so he'll catch on.

Hi, My husband was the same way well maybe not as bad as having sweets but between him and a friend who encouraged me to eat all the bad things before I had surgery (I was only on clears for 3 days pre-op)! Fortunately my nerves were so bad I wasn't hungry but it still was a PITA.

I feel like this is common for men to do this. I've definitely experienced it; my ex used to always complain about my weight and then bring home pizza and burritos for us to eat for dinner--even after I told him I had prepared something healthy for us to eat. I think they just don't understand how this affects us... but hang in there. It gets easier!

My husband Snacks a lot- and never gains weight. GRRRRRR! Athough I know he will be supportive, especially during my two weeks of iiquids, I also know I need to be able to be around his snacking without it bothering me- it is my lifestyle changes, not his, though he is eating much healthier in general since I started doing it. I can';t expect him not to eat stuff like that in front of me- we love to do our work (me editing and working doing art on wedding photos we took) while hanging out together and watching movies- so I will need to eat my way and not care if he eats his way.

That said- I think the emotions and moods will swing wildly in those pre diet Fluid weeks and he should be more supportive. You tell him we said so! ;-P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
