Surgery tomorrow at 7am, a few last questions.

Recommended Posts

OK I know the answer to these questions are diferent for each person, which is partially why I asking them, even though I have seen the answers in peoples personal post. Im going to be currious tomorrow to see where I fall as far as getting up and walking, drinking fluids, pain levels and so on.

How long was it before you were up and walking the halls after your surgery, and how long was your first walk?

How much pain were you in when you first came out of the anesthesia?

How long was it before you were able to sip at some Water? When was Water first offered to you?

How long were you in the hospital for? Would you have stayed longer if you could?

Once you went home how long was it before you could drive?

How long did it take to get to a point where you could move around fairly well with only moderate discomfort?

Thanks in advance.

Hello! Good luck on your surgery!

How long was it before you were up and walking the halls after your surgery, and how long was your first walk?

Honestly I wanted so badly to walk after surgery. But this was my first surgery, and I was in SO much pain that I couldn't. I didn't start really doing "laps" until day 3.

How much pain were you in when you first came out of the anesthesia?

I was in a lot of pain. I was also VERY nauseous.

How long was it before you were able to sip at some Water? When was Water first offered to you?

I wasn't offered anything until the second day AFTER my leak test!

How long were you in the hospital for? Would you have stayed longer if you could?

I was only in there for 1 night. I'm not sure if they would of let me stayed. I almost asked.. I didn't think I was ready to go home. But, once I got home things got easier.

Once you went home how long was it before you could drive?

I don't drive, so I don't know. Sorry! But, I would say as long as you not on pain medication you should be just fine!

How long did it take to get to a point where you could move around fairly well with only moderate discomfort?

On the 3rd day I was feeling pretty good! I was up moving around. TAKE THINGS SLOWLY!

I would say from day 3 on every day gets a little easier than the last. :) Good luck! And, Congratulations!

OK well your going to be in the hospital. they will keep you very comfortable..When you get out of surgery you will be in pain you can tell them and they will give you meds... as far as walking when you wake up you can immediately bug the crap out of your nurses and ask them every time you see them about walking..I walked the night of surgery..the more you walk the less pain you will be in. you usually get ice chips the first day the most important part it to keep your mouth wet. when I was in my tongue felt like a piece of leather. You can let your ice melt and take tiny tiny sips..I was in the hospital for 2 days. A lot of people on the site were in for 3 it really depends on how good you do.. The second day I was bring around 32 ozs of Water they said I was doing so good they let me out.. They usually wont let you drive on pain meds so my doc said when your off pain meds for good then you can drive.. It depends on the person> I felt really awesome around day 5 and on. I hope this really helps... Our prayer go out with you for a speedy recovery
