bullit143 0 Posted June 22, 2006 I am 2 years post Lap Band with 90 lbs weightloss. I am happy with my success, but have suffered with horrible acid reflux and terrible restiction, and lack of sleep many nights due to aspirating. I am trying to get a revision approved with insurance. Dr. thinks lap has slipped. Would really appreciate response about your experience with revisions. My Dr. states that newly improved stitching methods have been developed to prevent slippage. What do you think? Thanks so much! Bullit
Carlene 12 Posted June 23, 2006 Acid reflux is bad...aspiration is worse. It can lead to pneumonia and/or an abscess in the lungs. When you say "revision", do you mean another band, or a whole different surgery?
dishdiva 5 Posted June 26, 2006 All I can tell you is I had my slipped band re-positioned and it slipped again. Not sure why. However, I would INSIST they go slow on fills. Had it removed in March. Sorry, not what you want to hear, I know. My acid reflux was HORRENDOUS. The second I was awake after having the band removed, I knew it was no longer a problem. And I haven't had an episode since. Best wishes for success, Elizabeth
bullit143 0 Posted June 26, 2006 thanks for responding. My dr. is trying to get the insurance to agree to a revision using the same band. He thinks it will help to stitch the band in on a different area of the stomach. Have you had a band repaired?
leatha_g 4 Posted June 26, 2006 Had mine replaced due to slippage, only lost 20 additional pounds. Seems as if I have esophageal issues now and none of my 'stop' signs are even remotely familiar to my initial band. Fortunately, I've maintained, but nothing is the same as my initial band.
