lizzyshade 56 Posted February 27, 2011 Dr. Jossart, I have severe hereditary spherocytosis and had a splenectomy when I was a child as a result. I am very overweight, have some negative health issues because of it and would like to have the gastric sleeve procedure. Years ago I asked about the gastric bipass and was told I could not have it done because I did not have a spleen. They indicated this was due to the intestinal complications that could occur. Will not having a spleen also count me out for the gastric sleeve procedure too? Please advise. Thank you, Lizzyshade
