prnps 0 Posted February 26, 2011 I am just over a month out of getting my sleeve. Seriously I can't seem to get the Water, Protein and then not drink for 30 minutes before and after trying to eat something in a day. It is rather exhausting. I just fininshed 3 saltines with ham on it and have reset my timer on the phone to wait for my 30 minutes to be up to drink again. I just bought a power protein at GNC that is 100ml with 42 grams of protein in it to get my protein in. Has anyone else tried these? pat
Becca 108 Posted February 26, 2011 I was having this issue as well. I am almost two months out. I mainly try not to drink at all when I eat, but I don't really wait 30 minutes after I eat if I want some Water. I don't have enough time to sit and watch the clock. I have been backing off the Protein Shakes and trying to eat my Protein as much as possible. I will have a shake if my protein is low at the end of the day. It is all a learning process and it really does get easier each day!

I would suggest trying some softer Proteins like cottage cheese, or turkey chili to get in your protein. I normally follow the Water rule, one of the things that helps is to eat first thing when you get up as you haven't drank since you went to sleep your 30 minute waiting period has been served. Sure theres days when everyone falls short on either of the requirements but it's important to try and it sounds like you are so kudos!!! I haven't tried that protein but i've had quite a few different ones and I prefer real food to any of them. Haven't touched a Protein shake since 6 weeks after surgery got burned out on them. If you haven't already I'd contact the doctor or nutritionist to see what they suggest and keep a food and liquid journal for a week to show them so they can come up with a plan that will work for you. learningintuition 5 Posted February 26, 2011 Just went over this with my doc in group today. Protein: Broccoli, quinoa, fish, chicken, beef, eggs, dairy, Beans. Whole grains have some incomplete Proteins. I drink as i eat, and i wake up and go to sleep drinking. I drink during the 5 hour lapses between the 3 meals. Tandybo 1 Posted February 28, 2011 I'm almost 7 weeks out and have many of the same issues. I work in a very busy medical clinic and simply don't have time to drink as much as I should. I keep liquids with me at all times, but find it hard to get them in. I'm also struggling with my Vitamins and Calcium supplements as they make me sick. I've started adding calcium crystals to my drinks and greek yogurt so hope this will suffice. As far as the Protein Shots from GNC... nasty stuff!
