Just heard on ET that Carnie Wilson has gained some of her weight back and is going to participate in Celebrity Fit Club this year to try and lose 40 lbs. God love her. I hope she makes it. Katt

i saw that too. she said she gained it from being a new mom.

i wonder if she will consider the lapband... or even knows it's a possibility.

She is aware of the band, I saw her on Trya Banks a fews weeks ago and I think she looks great. She is also a host of top 100 celebrity slimdowns, it is a cool 3 hour countdown show and she discusses weightloss surgery a few times. She is working with a personal trainer and she claims to be making progress. I hope she does well, I think she has really paved major roads for WLS patients. ~Mandy

OH God, just what we need......another celebrity gaining weight after a WLS then grasping for other answers.

No offense, but if she does consider and go with a lap band I sincerely hope she does not advertise it like she did the other. I think they made kind of a mockery of it, being webcast and everything. I know that it really helped the RNY boost it's numbers and all, but at what cost? Were the individuals doing it because they really knew what they were getting into or were they doing it because Carnie Wilson did it and was successful (at least temporarily)?

Geeze, how frightening to start regaining when you've had surgery that changed you for life. I know she must be very grateful for her new life that the weight loss has given her, but man I'd sure hate to be looking at a 40 pound gain after going thru surgery like that. Hopefully, she will be able to keep it under control with a trainer and will power. She'll be in my prayers along with all the rest of us who struggle with weight.

Can you have lap band surgery after a gastric by-pass? How would that work? Katt

It is possible but there are only a few doctors that will do it. I know of one in NY and one in CA. My friend looked into it and his insurance won't cover it. I think 40 pounds is normal gain for a full term pregnancy, right? I gained a lot more than that. I am sure she will lose it again, she has done very well even after her 2 year window with the GBP was closed, she was losing weight. ~Mandy

that's precisely why star jones didn't want to specify what medical intervention she had. and she got slammed for it.

Carne did gain 50 pounds with her pregnancy! I think this would be a normal weight gain for a lot of pregnancies, and we all know how hard it is to lose weight after having a baby. I think she is wonderful and a great role model. She is REAL! I hope she does lose the excess 40 pounds to prove to the world she can do it!

I think my Doctor at my seminar said that Dr. Spiegel in Houston will lapband a gastric bypasser that has gained weight.

I know Star has taken a lot of criticism for being so tight lipped about how she's lost her weight, but I commend her for being firm in her beliefs and not wanting to be the spokesperson for any weight loss intervention. It doesn't matter whether she's had surgery or just gotten down and dirty with some high priced professionals who've helped her. She's done it and that's all that matters. Now, let's hope she has learned and can keep it off. That's the real struggle for all of us.

Bless Carnie's heart, I feel sorry for anyone who gains unwanted weight and am happy for anyone who finds a way to lose it.

The question becomes, if I were rich and famous and uh FAT would I try to lose the weight publicly and risk ridicule or would I do it privately and risk, well, ridicule...They can't win. I'm going to vote: Lose and let lose. That being said, I will be watching the new season of Celebrity Fit Club.

I totally feel for carnie wilson as it must be 100 times worse to be in the public eye and having every pound lost or gained a newsworthy event. It also makes me sad to know that even with bypass or lapband how hard this struggle is - i've lived it my whole life and while i'm hopeful the band will make me a success at weight loss - success to me will mean keeping it for once in my life. And i have a ways to go to even get the weight off.

I think it is hard, too, because to the average 'normal' non-celebrity, going from 350 to 200 would be wonderful and considered a success. But for her to be considered sucessful, she has to be at the lowest weight she can possible be.

I don't know much about Gastric Bypass, but how do you gain weight after that?

I have heard that some gain after gastric bypass because they stretch their stomach pouch out. I don't know anything else about it and I am not a heath care professional - just what I've heard.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
