Thanks Sleeves Sisters I still keep pitching myself. Humpty I can feel my hip bones and in the right light you can see my rib bones on my chest I'm 54 and just discovering how different a 54 year old body looks from a 30 year old body. You and I are both shorties and your weight is close to what my sw was I can not imagine that I am anything but average in my weight loss so hopefully come Christmas you will be in the forties!

Sleeve4me you already are there remember you are 3" taller then I am which makes you weight loss at 6 months ahead of me.

At six months out I pretty much eat whatever I want within reason. I will always have to watch slider foods I try to stick with the Protein first rule with every meal. I start almost every morning with a Protein shake. I plan my meals ahead of time as much as I can if we are going out I'll check out their menu online. I go out typically twice a week and I have never had a server make a comment. I walk 5 miles a day five days a week but to be honest I don't think the walking is much of a factor to my weight loss since I have been doing the same walk for more then 7 years and I imagine I am burning less calories walking at 146 then I was at 208. Hope this helps.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
