mae 17 Posted November 2, 2012 Gosh its been 11 days since surgery.. I can't believe how time is flying now, before surgery it felt like time was standing still. For the past two days we have had company and of course I had to cook, our visitor is a single widower that loves my cooking soooo, I thought OK lets see how this works. I have to say it really didn't bother me a bit, I was really surprised, and of course I made my favorite things, and I was taken back at how it really didn't bother me!!! So I was wondering does this happen to everyone? I haven't gotten on a scale yet, only because I don't have one...hahaha...I have ordered one and its supposed to come in today its called Eat Smart, its supposed to be the most accurate one on the market this year, we will see. I was wondering if anyone here has used this scale and how do you like it. Also I'm proud to announce that nothing so far bothers me, milk, coffee, Protein Drinks, everything tastes the same and I don't seem to have any intolerance's...am I weird? or what?... it seems everywhere you look on this site you read I can't stand this, or this hurts my tummy, or this doesn't taste good anymore, anyone else? or am I the odd ball out here? just wondering Debbie Hi Deb, I am 14 days out from my surgery! I am exactly like you - I have found no intolerances at all. Taking everything slowly. I have been getting my Protein in since last Friday. I still struggle to get my 64 ounces of fluids in - usually 4- 6 glasses. No nausea either! I guess we have been blessed! I have been doing a lot of walking and riding my exercise bike. It is funny how fixing food for others doesn't bother you or me either! Strange, I know! I return to the surgeon on Monday, and I must say I am looking forward to moving on to the challenge of the next food stage!! Good luck to you! Ellamae Well best of luck to you Ellamae, I'm so glad your surgery and recovery is going so well, I just can't believe I have just recovered so wonderfully myself with such a major surgery, I honestly have to remind myself to slow down Deb you just had surgery!!! My blood sugars have normalized, my joints have honestly stopped hurting, and my blood pressure isn't jumping all over the place. Even if I don't loose another pound, just having the above stay the way it is...it would be all worth it :wub:I can't wait for the next food stage, mine starts on Monday....MMMM...cottage cheese....eggs...yum! hahahah Sometimes I think I'm just still on this HIGH/EUPHORIA still from the excitement of having the surgery? Whatever I like it and hope it never goes away Deb 1 mae reacted to this

Katie713 423 Posted November 4, 2012 Ellamae, Cinders & Deb....I am so glad you are all doing so well. I did wonder if I would heal well and bounce back quickly as I was 56 when I had surgery last April but surprisingly it went well with one minor stretch that strained my stitches, but it wasn't bad, just reminded me to take it easy, even if I felt so good I had to be reminded that I had major surgery and to take good care of myself. I had my 7 month post op check up Friday with my bariatric doctor and he said I am doing great 90 pounds down since the beginning of my weight loss journey, about 26 pre-op and the rest post-op. I started at a 3X or 4X and now a 14-16 and although the weight loss is slower I know this is not a race...and I am paying attention to my health and nutrition, trying to make sure I get those veggies and fruit in addition to a high Protein diet. I don't eat much in the way of starches as they make me stall out, but I do enjoy a little sweet potato now and then or a few tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole. I still have at least one Protein Shake a day and sometimes an Atkins Protein Bar, lots of fish, chicken and salads, cottage cheese with canned pears, pineapple or peaches, cheese sticks, olives and stir frys, like a small amount of beef with cabbage, shredded carrots and bean sprouts with a bit of ginger and soy sauce. I feel like MYSELF now...not overly thinking of my surgery, just so much more control, this was the absolute best thing I ever did for my health and I am workin it! ! Holly5.3 423 Posted November 5, 2012 Hi all. Have not posted for awhile. Been away from the computer' date=' but thought I should check in and see how everyone is doing. I'm down 60 lbs, which is really close to the 1/2 way mark. Bought some size 16 jeans, which I knew would be too small, when I went by a Good will the other day so I would have jeans for later. Decided to try them on after I got home to see how much too small they were, and they fit perfect now! I'm in shock. This week-end shopping for something to wear to a wedding in the Middle of December. Thought if I tried on a dress I like, then buy it one size too small, that should fit by December. Any thoughts on this plan? Thanks, Kathy[/quote'] I think this idea works for me! When I first got my surgery date (back in August) I found the cutest dress at Target-largest size 2XXL (but it's stretchy so it looks like a size 12/14) I had to have it. It's my inspiration dress now- it's just a matter of time before it will fit me. I've lost 42 pounds total; 20 Pre-op and 22 post-op., I'm hoping to lose another 28 lbs. by New Years (8 weeks 3 lbs./week average). It should fit me. It's nice to know with our sleeve that weight loss is inevitable-I've tried the old "I'll buy a smaller size " incentive before and it backfired miserably with me gaining and going up a size instead if down! Katie713 423 Posted November 5, 2012 It's November, good luck to all my fellow November sleevers! Mine is on the 6th. Tomorrow is your lucky day!! Hope all goes well for you, don't forget if you feel anxious, do some deep breathing and positive affirmations in your head. I remember when I woke up in the recovery room I was out of sorts, but by the time they took me to my room and I started to wake up, inside I was filled with joy, that I went through with what I set out to do, and I was happy that I didn't have much pain at all, just some discomfort that was easily manageable, and by the late afternoon I was walking up and down the hallways, and the next day sipping my Water without complications. Let us know how you're doing as soon as you feel able to. Again, good luck!!!
