Congrats to all of you, you are doing AWESOME!!!!! keep on doing and keep on encouraging others to do............ I have not told anyone in my family as they all live in another State, but my sister called me and told me she was thinking about WLS........ really I said......... it has been almost 2 years since my surgery........ so I broke down and told her what I did......I said you remember mom passed in May, I came home and was so depressed I knew I was going down her road, so I had the SLEEVE........in Sept. 2011..... LOL............ she was so surprised, I sent her photos today......... she wrote back ; you'r one hot sexy momma now........... she made my day, but she is on 4 insulin shots per day and they are wanting to install insulin pump. she instead is choosing WLS.......... HOOOOOOOOOOORRREYYYYYYYYYY for her............I told her to swear to keep my secret until I come home, and i will help her any way I can......I am SO happy she has chosen to do this...... It will change her life!!! as it did mine... and I was not even on insulin......... so to keep it simple, Do what you are suppose to do, the weight will come off....... drink that water...... and I am loving life and my sleeve!!!!

I'm 1 week and 2 days post-op. Feeling pretty good. The surgery increased my Fibromyalgia, I gained 15 pounds of IV Fluid weight  , and my feet and legs are swollen. As a person with Fibro, the swollen feet and legs though are not that bad.

GLAD to hear from you all! ~ I'm 56 & 11 weeks out...I have lost 34 pounds and feel great! I lost over 90 on a dr's program in 2008-2009 and put 65 back on' date=' over 45 in 3 months. Out-Of-Control sooo I went to Mexico in December and very grateful of the decision! I feel I'm losing slow enough so I don't have "the wrinkles" and "bags" as I didn't last time. I have my 3 month Upper GI & bloodwork coming up and am worried that my insurance won't cover the GI expense. I was told to call my insurance & find out b-u-t that might put a red flag on it--am thinking I should take my chances? I was 270+ at my top, 185 at my lowest, started the sleever at 245 and now 209 = Can't wait for my 160 lb goal![/quote']

Where did u get yours done at and which dr?

I turned 50 in January and am 5.5 months out and down 56 pounds and 50 inches! So happy I had the surgery--my blood work is fantastic' date=' blood pressure has dropped, and the pain in my knees is gone. I can anything- and the sleeve provides the Portion Control I need![/quote']

So happy for you. Glad to hear your blood pressure has gone down and the pain in your knees are gone. Yes I am hoping with the weight loss I will be able to do more and less pain in my knees. Good job!!

I am in my 50's for a little while longer. I am 58.

I've been at goal for a year and I love the attention I am getting from men. I've been a widow for a number of years so getting thin has brought me dates and a much more interesting life!

Good to hear!! And good job!!! Nice to get attention from the men.

Hello all of you AB FAB 50 Somethings!

I'm just starting my VSG journey -- and' date=' like everyone else -- it's been a long time coming. If it weren't so sad, it would probably make an awesome dance. I'm callin' it the VSG BOOGIE -- Two steps forward, one step back, slide to the side, move to the back, jump through the hoops, now twist to the left, then skate to the right. Now Everybody JUMP JUMP JUMP. (Okay, so it's a work in progress, but then again, so am I. For now, it's just an interpretive dance...)

I've decided that my mental theme song for the first part of my VSG Boogie is "I like to move it, move it. I like to move it, move it...." Then again, maybe I'm just mental enough to begin with <img src='http://cdn.verticalsleevetalk.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Bette Davis once said "Getting old ain't for sissies" and BOY was she right. So, I've decided that at 56, I'm not even close to old, but I am ALMOST perfectly aged (like fine wine or cheese). No Mad Dog 2020 or Limburger for me thank you very much.

There's one thing I'm really, really looking forward to....taking a step and not having to wait for my butt to catch up and stop shakin'.

Looking for mentors, accountability partners, and having fun, fun, fun till Big Daddy takes the TBird away. <img src='http://cdn.verticalsleevetalk.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

You didn't mention if you had your surgery or it is in the process. Keep up the positive thinking great for the mind

Happy Birthday! I didn't know we are the same age. We will be until I turn

59 in October.

I have a new bf and life is good. I've dated a lot of interesting guys and I would have never met any of them if I hadn't lost all the weight.

I have never been as happy as I have been since I got sleeved.

Yes it seems that the heavier u are the less men are attracted to you. This us what I am going through. Even though men say they like. Women with some fat on their bones that is not true because they still want the skinny ones. But I am happy with being single and working. I am doing this for myself, my health, and if something happens then that is a bonus.

Good job!!

Hello! I am 54! I will be sleeved in Oct. Shoudl be setting the date soon. I have done all the pretesting' date=' I think. Get the results from my sleep study today. Right now everything I do I think to myself next year right now you are going to be ........? Easier getting in and our of our camper, fitting in to the recliners in the camper better, fitting into the camper shower better. Wear a sun dress when it is hot! I meet with my high school friends every sept for dinner. I am not telling them about the sleeve so next year I can get the wow factor. Summer cloths that are cute! etc etc etc. Concerns I don't want a turkey neck! Or wings! I will probably have wings I gues it wont be a sleeveless sundress!

What have others done? Has anyone worn the body shapers are they comfortable?[/quote']

What date in oct? What hospital and what sr? Bi also will be sleeved in oct

Hi FibroDiva: thanks for letting is know how you are doing. Lots of people gain weight from the IV fluids. You'll pee it all out in no time LOL! Do your best to keep sipping Water and getting your liquids. I hope your fibromyalgia symptoms decrease quickly. Virtual hug coming at ya!

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6

Thanks Chelenka,

Yesterday afternoon took a turn for the worse. I spent the afternoon and evening either sleeping or crawling to the bathroom.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
