Newfoundlove ... My NUT is Medina ....very nice, positive comments, listens (and hears) what i have to say...

Day 17: Beautiful Saturday sunshine here in the pacific northwest! even though my body is still wheelchair bound, my energy level is improving....i can't wait until my body will allow me longer walking! NUT told me not to worry , that 3 - 10 minute walks was great too....(didn't have the heart to tell her "my walks" are about 2 minutes long). When reach goal weight will probably allow the total knee replacement happen....

Hugs to you all!

Hi tjmom

This is a beautiful Saturday sunny in central Ontario with a high of 85 degrees. Ya whoo summer. You are doing great keep it up. Remember little steps are better than large ones (easier for someone to follow you). Don't ask where that saying came from I just remember my mom saying that - bless her. My daughter and her family came over today and cleaned out my flower gardens for me as I can't kneel down bad knees too and too much weight to get back up. Picked up the whey Iso Burst Protein Drink from GNC today. One word YUK! I sure hope I can get used to the taste. I picked chocolate flavor and it is still YUK. I treated myself to a new pair of sandals too so it wasn't all bad lol. You keep up the good work. I know it might only be two minutes today but maybe it will be three tomorrow. Big Hugs to you. Kat

Hey Kat, I'm almost 4 wks postop (on Monday). I know that stalls are quite frequent, especially at 3 wks postop. If you do a search, you will see a million of them!! :) Today's a better day for Protein and Fluid. I see you're in Ontario. I heard about Iso Breeze that's not sold in Canda but not the States. Have you heard of it?

Hi Joni

Glad to hear today was a better day. No I have not heard of it. What is it? I picked up the Protein mix at GNC and tried it out today so I would be prepared in one word YUK. I don't know how I am going to get it into me. I was honestly gagging.

Are you feeling well. How has the weight loss been? Before you had your surgery were you concerned with blood clots? I guess I have been reading too much. With going alone I don't want anything to happen to me. Beginning to get nervous especially after what I have read.

They didn't even let me get up and walk the first day, unlike so many others who are up and walking in a couple hours. I think that's the worry with blood clots. Also, they usually have "compression stockings" on your legs to prevent clots also. No, I never even gave them a thought. Don't worry!! You'll be fine but I totally understand. The Iso Breeze is a whey isolate Protein that has good reviews. Google it and you can read about it. It's really hard to find a Protein Powder that you can like, and tastes can change after surgery, so I wouldn't stock up on too much before surgery. What you like now, you may hate after!

Hi Joni

The product that I bought is whey ISO burst and nope it is still YUK lol. How are you doing? Where did you have your surgery done? I am nervous about blood clots especially with being on a plane for six hours ugg. Are you on normal meals yet?

I had my surgery done at University of Michigan Hospital. I start soft food tomorrow. So many people have flown after surgery - I wouldn't worry. Just make sure you walk as much as you can. In the plane, you can walk to the bathroom!

To make my Protein Shakes taste better i use the sugar free Syrup that is used in latte's etc.....when i make a chocolate drink i add either caramal, ameretto, peppermint, or cherry......in vanilla i add some of the above or cookie dough, English toffee or raspberry .... Or instead of mixing them with Water or milk, i will use Orange crystal light with the vanilla Protein .... I am sure there are many other things to make them drinkable ....

All you getting sleeved next week: good luck, enjoy your tool and smile, because a healthier you is now coming your way.... tjmom

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
