Good question. sorry that I can't answer it as I have not had surgery yet, but I'm definitely interested in knowing the answer too!

Does it feel different to puke after the sleeve? The reason i ask is i am a puker in general so i just wonder about this. Is it the same or different ?

Well for me the answer is YES it is different. I do not puke from my stomach but from my chest. It is sooooo weird. I am 3 1/2 months out and it is still the same. Not sure why but I am not a through or upper...but when I do it is sooooo much easier. Just thought I would add my two cents...good luck with that!

I puke almost every other day. I'm 32 days out, but you would think that there wasn't much in that little stomach. To me it doesn't feel any different. I am worried that I will develop on bad habit (over eating) to another one (puking). Hope it past soon. Spoke to my surgeon who backed me up to liquids for a few days to give my throat a rest. Haven;t puked in 2 days, so maybe its passing.

Well when I puked it DID feel the same as pre op. The awful nausea wave and up it came... It only happened once though. Don't get confused between real nausea and vomiting vs. eating too much and sliming and puking. That is a difference and that only happened to me when I was banded. I learned how to eat properly while banded and haven't had any of these issues post sleeve.

Have to agree with Irene -- puking does feel the same (nausea wave, then vomit) -- but overeating and then puking is completely different -- the food is still in your esophagus sometimes and it can hurt in a completely different way. I learned probably during my 1st couple of weeks, after a couple of bouts of overeating vomiting, what my "stop point" was (wave of nausea and then a hiccup) -- and then I don't eat anymore -- it's important to know where your stop point is because then you will be vomiting from overeating all the time.

I get really bad Migraines, and with them the whole nausea vomiting thing. That is completely different than over eating vomiting thing. Like Irene said, when you over eat, it sits like a brick in your throat until you kind of like burp it up with lots of saliva. At least that is how it works in my body. I haven't done it since I had my band removed and my sleeve done, kind of learned from experience. Do not like it and do not want to ever do it AGAIN!!!

I am 4 months out and have yet to experience a stomach bug or anything like that, thank God I have healthy kids! We just pass around runny noses! We have really bad allergies, which cause a whole other issue when eating!

Hope this helps!

Patti

I am knocking with you, I haven't puked yet either. Once I tried to drink too soon after eating and it basically never made it all the way down - I don't consider that puking, it was almost like spitting it out, ie. like it never even left my mouth. That was about 1 month out, and I have never had it again.

Admitted, I am not a puker (btw, LOL at "through or upper" - I had to read that 5 times before I understood it was supposed to be "thrower upper" as in throw up) and I am "Vomit free since 93" or something like that :-)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
