Ok so i have been approved..yay for me lol...and the date is set for March 21, a little nervous, but now i have to give notice to my supervisor, my doctor said i would need a week off for recovery, seeing that i dont do heavy lifting at my job, im an administrative so im at my desk 90% of the time. so my question is how long of a recovery time will i need until i get back to work, assuming no complications arise? All advise welcome.

I would take at least 2 weeks maybe 3. The first whole week you feel really bad. The second you feel a lot better and the third you will feel really good. I have a heavy lifting job so I am taking 6 weeks off. The doc wanted me out at least 4 weeks before I lift anything substancial. So I had the short term time and I took another 2 weeks for extra healing. I think you will be good with 2weeks but if you really want to be safe I would do three..

I was sleeved on Monday and went back to work Friday - NOT RECOMMENDED. Like Syltx3 recommended 2 or 3 weeks.

I took off 2 1/2 weeks but not cause I needed to but rather cause I wanted to. . . 1 week would have been enough as per doctor, but 2 1/2 was better. . . I returned rested and feeling good. .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
