thisislou 13 Posted February 23, 2011 Question: Istarted having problems with my jaw about one month ago – just went to mydentist and said it seems like a TMJ problem suggested a specialist. We talked about my weight loss and that it most likewas/is caused by that. Anyone else have similar problems? Lou
kgremmy 36 Posted February 23, 2011 I started having problems with mine again. I blamed it on stress and not weight loss.
thinoneday 445 Posted February 23, 2011 dumb question coming up? How can TMJ be weight related? I'm not much into dentists or teeth things, so I'm kinda dumb when it comes to this. . . please forgive me. . .just wondering

Tiffy 0 Posted April 14, 2011 I have had TMJ for years and struggled with the pain but I can assure u it is not caused by weight loss...your bones remain the same regardless of the fat you carry in your face. This can be caused by some sort of trauma to ur jaw bone....(for me I was in high school and had my jaw dislocated during a game.) Stress playing a huge factor in it! There are many different reasons why this can happen, but most Dentists can't give you too much info or help besides ordering u a mouth gard.....but if u talk to an orthodontist surgeon they can give u must better advise! Hope this helps a little
Roxyrooster 9 Posted April 17, 2011 My TMJ always acts up when I am stressed. I think it is because I chew a lot of gum during stressful times. Two things that help me are my bite splint that I had made at my dental office and my chiropractor. And of course...less gum. Good Luck!
